just had my mothers partner on the phone, he has been trying to start my rsv 2001:angry and he said something under the seat cowl has melted. any got any idea what he is on about:dunno and how much a new will be?
 
Sad news mate but I reckon he's on about the voltage regulator unit.

Not too bad to replace, seen some go on Ebay for £20.00 delivered.

If it's the riders seat then it's possibly the starter solenoid and you really wanna be replacing that with a Yamaha one which is about £30.

Just a thought, have you done done away with the brown connector?

If no then that's what has melted.

PS. Don't let people loose on your RSV who don't own one themselves.
