What is the best, fastest and/or cheapest way to get my Mille to run a little leaner? It's running pretty rich and I'm guessing either a PCIII or evo fuel pressure regulator. I'm leaning more towards a PCIII. I'm kind of scared to mess with the eprom myself. But if I have to go that way I'm gonna do the Dr. Rossi or 1413 eprom. What should I do?

why and how you know / think its running lean mate -forum guys correct me if im wrong but given you have a k&N and leo sbk slip on - in normal trim it would be running lean and should be richened as would run too hot - resulting in burnt pistons ???? as the k & n is allowing more air into the engine and sbk exhausting it out faster - running on the same amout of fuel as it would do with airbox and standard can

I would think so too but you can smell that it's pretty rich and I'm just taking the guy that was running the dyno at his word. Would cutting the wire to unlock map 2 on the ecu (which I did) cause it to run richer than stock anyways?

What does the colour of the exhaust pipe look like, does it pop and bang excessively on the over run ?

tell dr rossi your spec and that you want it a bit leaner and he will do it for you for a very reasonable price.

i have a chip from him with 2 different maps for the best of both worlds, one a bit rich for best power and one a bit leaner for better fuel economy. you can switch between the 2 on the fly by wiring in a switch to the cut wire to join it/break it. although i haven't got around to sorting a switch yet and trying it to see the difference. got a chain and sprockets to replace first

Man, that's awesome thanks. About how much do you think that would be and do you think he will ship to the US?

Hmmmmmmmm that would seem to be rich , especially if its chucking flames out the pipe. Unburnt fuel could be plugs or timing.

but guys why is it running rich ???? as ive alwasy done found the problem before counter curing -

the guy running the dyno should ideally put a gas analyser (sorry, that should be analyzer in your language) on it when doing a run to measure the mixture, not just smell it and guess.

send a pm to dr rossi, i'm sure he'll help you out

Its hard to find out why without knowing the exact symptoms , but sometimes by suggesting a fix you can find out more than by asking a direct question.

littlescrote your right - should be gas analysed to check the cppm ( carbon particles per million ) if i rember rightly from when i used to work on cars many many moons ago , and kiwiw your right too - but a faulty pressure reg - over fuelling pump or weak injectors or something of the sort may not be cured by a chip - there will stilll be the underlying problem ???? what you think guys - just trying to save the guy money that might be better spent elsewhere

It sounds like you need a simple and inexpensive set up on the gas analyser to get your CO levels set, Unless you are running serious modifications and/ or really want a PC $50 would be well spent to get you fuel injection set up right.

I will know in two weeks when I get the bike back if it was the plugs since we changed them. I will more than likely take it to get re-dynoed and analyzed. I've never heard of a PC costing $50. Should I still get the Rossi Chip after I get the gas analysis done anyway? Was I wrong in assuming that the cut derestrict wire mod causes it to run richer than originally?

babutler - r896neo didnt mean you can get a pc for $50 he meant you can get a set up for that - seriously tho - gotta ask the question whys it running rich - maybe something to with it being near destroyed - not sure if yours has one but maybe lamba sensor in exhaust knackered that controls fueling to a degree - imagine scenario - get chip to cure over fueling - faulty component intermittantly cures while riding = bike running super lean - possibly resulting in engine damage

yea sorry to get your hopes up! I meant the throttle body CO set up and balance would cost 50 bucks.

Download a workshop manual if you haven't got one already.
