Help!!!!!! 4500 rev limit

Can any one give me any ideas?

Coming to work this morning the bike wouldn't rev over 4500rpm. All was well for the first 10 mile then it started. It runs lovely upto 4500 and then starts acting like its hit the rev limiter and the EFI light is on all the time. I carried on the other 50 mile to work keeping it below 4500 and like i said all was well below 4500.

Ive just heard the aswell as setting the rev limit light you can set the rev limit using the dash. Is this true and can any one tell me how?

You can set the rev limit light from the dash, but i'm not sure you can adjust the rev limit :confused yours is a newer model than mine so it will be different i think. Have you got a owners manual, it will tell you in there how to set it up...

I'm 99% confident that you can't set the actual rev limit. If the EFI light is on I would say that something has gone wrong and the ECU is limiting the revs to prevent damage to the engine. You can always check the Fault Diagnosis codes in the dash which may tell you what the problem is.

Ive just noticed the little thermometer sign near the temperatur reading is on all the time. Is this normal and if not can any one tell me were the sensor is? I dont think its this as the reading is ok but if i dont get it sorted soon itl be of to the doc's at god knows how much per hour:down

your bike is in limp mode which will happen if efi or engine faults occur to prevent you damaging the bike.

The temp sensor is on the left rear cylinder head. If it's blue then it's nippon Denso which was replaced by an updated Bosch version due to the original giving false readings to the ecu.

you also need Ronnie Corbett hands to change it.

Not sure that's your problem though.

It says press button C but doesnt tell you which button is C :lol
but if thats to set the rev limiter light and not the rev limiter ive done that all ready
