hello my name is gricey

im 23 several years experience and love big twins

i live in welwyn garden city hertfordshire and currently ride a sv650s k3 (back after a short break from riding )

i also have a golf gti turbo tuned to 217.8bhp 232lb ft torque

i work for buildbase / hire base welwyn garden city branch as a fitter / dogs body

my question is i am looking for a propper bike as the sv is just too slow for me

do i buy a

rsv 2001 ?
ducati 916 / 748
tl1000r
or a sv1000s

iv riden the sv1000 and tl a few times (dad owned both and i stole it from him lol) and loved them but am wondering how the rsvr compares ??

i am a fast road rider and wanting to do the occasional track day, my riding style is quite smooth and progressive but i like a bit of a scratch quite often ??

i know u guys are gonna be quite biast lol but an honest opinion would be great , is there anything i should be looking for when purchasing a rsvr and good / bad points or anything i should be paying special attention to ??

any help much appriciated , thanks

Gricey

Hi gricey and welcome :thumbup

I've never ridden the other makes so can't comment but others on here have owned them and they all ended up here :biggrin sort of answers a few questions eh :thumbup

Best thing is to have a test ride on them all to see what suits your riding style and what fits you best size wise etc :thumbup

Why the rsv2001 and not rsv in general :confused have you seen a 2001 model for sale your interested in :devious

heya nah not particularly a 2001 just a rsv and the 2001's seem to be in my kinda £2400 £2800 price range

Welcome bud

like you say bias on here but to be honest and neutral i have to say my 05 rsv is the best bike i have ever had as i usually change em after 2 years but this one is now nearly 3 years old (05 on 06 plate) and im keepin it for ages yet. I find mine crap in town but not done the lose a tooth on the front sprocket thing yet , not as fast as a gsxr 1000 etc but thats twins for ya but dont get me wrong its well fast enough and out of the corners well you already know about that .

The main thing for me is that its large in stature unlike alot of the others out there inc rsv4 , i'm only 6 foot so not megga tall but the other bikes i've had felt small and i thought i looked to big on em ??
And they aint everywhere you look at bike meets . I love the look and sound of the sv1000 fully faired though ..

All about personal taste i guess pal . If you had any probs with the rsv if you get it loads and loads of good lads on here who know what there talking about .

RIDE SAFE :thumbup

I've spent a day on an SV1000 - nice but (yawn).
My mate's got a 996 and its no faster and not so nice handling - plus it needs major servicing every 5 miles.
Yes we are biased but with good reason. Get a test ride on one (not in town though) and see what you think. If you're smooth and fairly quick it should suit you down to the ground and I love mine on track - quick to turn in if set up right but stable and confidence-inspiring at the same time.
