Should be able to get one for that money mate, try ebay or give Don at Southern cross motorcycles a ring, reckon he could supply and post for that money, obviously wont be a brand new engine but will be a top notch one from him, press the link at the bottom of my page for contact details :thumbup:thumbup

Ta very much

Thanks for the help i will get in touch straight away. will keep you informed as to what the outcome is

I'm not mechanically knowledgable by any stretch of the imagination, so i took his word for it, basically i took it to him to get it fitted he did that put it through the dyno, then took it for a spin( which i didnt authorise or know about) he then phones me up l8r that day telling me he had seized the engine, it wasn't hi fault and it had happened to him before 15 yrs ago and he knew what the problem was and could fix it. he said the cam chain had come off and chewed some teeth off something?????? i wouldn't know so took his word for it, that was 2 months ago and he has used every excuse int he book to get away with not sorting it out. too busy??? too technical for him????????? mate shortv of going down there an filling him in ( which iam sorely tempted to do!) i am knackered

*** ME,i cant believe that dude, you take your bike somewere to get it improvedand it ends up bolloxed!!
he shouldnt have been on it without your permission.
as littl1uk says, deffo try southern cross first, theyve a fantastic reputation from the folks that are lucky enough to live near em on here.
one chap on heres chain came off and chewed a hole in the side of his engine, and they had him back on the road in no time at all!

Thanks a lot to you all, i clicked on the link Aus RSV but i was after something with a little less mileage than that though, thanks anyway. i will keep you all informed about what happens if you like, Ed

Yes mate let us know how ya get on, if ya do contact Southern Cross ask for Don or Andy, trust me mate they bend over backwards to get people sorted :thumbup:thumbup

Thanks mate i can stop flapping now. i have felt like crying over this, the tosser. Maybe filling him in would help with de-stressing.LOL

Wait till ya finished ya tour then visit him just before ya fly home mate :biggrin:biggrin

Hi Aprilia RsVr and welcome. Sorry to read the bad news. Being a curious bugger, have you been down to see the bike since the phone call and witnessed the seized engine?

yep mate, keep us informed of how you get on.
best of luck mate.
were proud of our soldiers!

yeah i went down and he showed me, it turned with a torque wrench into the engine from the side somehow( does that ring any bells ?). thwe ngine turned and then there was a plain as day metal on metal and even with my limited mechanical experience, i knew that was not meant to happen:eek:

Had he drained the oil before hand and did he show you the drained oil if so? Was he due to do a service whilst fitting the pc3? Sorry for the questions, but I could sort of understand it if he had damaged it on the dyno runs. If it turns, then i'd guess the pistons aren't seized in the bores.

Can he provide the dyno run sheets :dunno

I could be doing him an injustice but i suspect not :jack

Kick him in the nuts cos he's probably over revved it on the dyno. The top end on an rsv does not like being bounced off the rev limiter. do it consistantly at your peril especially when engine brakeing.

several cases of failures that i have heard of from going too far down the box and dumping the clutch and over revving. Timing chain snaps and metal meets metal where it shouldn't.

His siezing it on a ride out sounds like a whole load of something i stepped in unless he was racing his mates. No one rides a bike on a test run hard enough to sieze it unless his fueling was so lean and pants in which case he should be out of a job anyway or he was the unluckiest man in Cyprus when it suffered a 1 in a million mechanical on his 1 and only test run. :dowhat

He is probably used to bouncing some 600 jap 4 off the limiter for fun and filled his pants when it went tits up with the Rsv.

Ahh mate im soo sorry to hear the news! get some of ya buddies and get cammoed up and scare the **** out of the ciprian *** lol im sure if ya went round there all tooled up he`d be more then happy to sort something out

Totally agree with ya Spoonz..i'd say he over stepped the mark on the Dyno...and did the damage there, not on the road.
However i have heard of an RSV engine seize (piston & vavle damage actually) from an absurdly lean setting at a high rev range after being dyno'd...again human error. Personally i think you have hit the nail on the head...bike not dyno'd intelligently for a 1 litre V-Twin
Makes ya :puke to hear he no take ownership of his destructive actions either way.

Regardless of what actually happened has he accepted liability for it? Either due to error on the dyno usage (which sounds much more likely) or riding it without permission?

Either way if it was me i would be taking my bike elseware to get it fixed and billing him for it. Why would you let this monkey 'repair' it for you. :dunno
