Alright guys,

I'm supposed to be leaving for our annual trip up north tomorrow morning and so have been going over the bike to check all's well........BUT i've come across something that i've never noticed before and am REALLY hoping is supposed to be like this!!

My issue is with the 5x17mm nuts that secure the sprocket to the rear wheel.........they are all loose ! ! ! and when i try to tighten them they all just turn WITHOUT tightening?????!!!!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE tell me this is correct otherwise i'm ****** for tomorrow:eek::eek:

its not correct but will take 30 mins max to sort, take the wheel off, take the cush drive off the wheel and you'll find you need to hold a spanner behind the bolts to tighen them.

Thank **** buddy..........thanks alot..........will report back!!

Question is why did they undo in the first place?

I thought they were locking nuts that had to be torqued up?

Hope you get it sorted Andi Mate!

They are Nylock nuts buddy!! Sodon't really know why....gonna put some thread lock on when i tighten them up!!

Will let you all know..............:thumbup

Andi while you've got the wheel in bits, check the sprocket carrier bolts are tight onto the wheel hub. Have a great trip :thumbup

If they have come loose Andi you need new nuts, loctite them in position for now but replace them as soon as you can.

Pennies each on Ebay!

Suppose the link for the nuts would help!! LOL

Click Me These are what I fitted to mine and they are pretty good quality nuts.

How much further north can you go andi, must be a short trip your heading out on.

Have a good one though.

I had this exact same problem and my dealer said the bearings had gone bad. New bearings put in and problem solved.

Hope you got sorted mate. Reminded me of my lad's ZZR6OO a couple of months ago. It was making a helluva racket and when I checked it over ALL of his rear sprocket nuts were MISSING!! I nearly sh*t meself.

Thanks for all the advice/help dudes!! Bike (and nuts) held up well for the trip and a few 1**mph blasts along the way!!

Have ordered new nuts (cheers AL)......looking at buying new cush rubbers as they are perished (slightly).......

Thanks again.....off to the Ring next Friday so want it all sorted for then!!

Andy, how long are you at the ring for? I'm going next Friday, staying in Durbuy, Belgium then onto the ring saturday and sunday. Staying at sliders guesthouse
