Heat Wrapping the Exhaust

On the R1 I had the exhausts wrapped with that exhaust wrap from the manifold to the end can link pipe, while its arguable that it any power gains were marginal it certainly kept the heat down which was a huge bonus, I am going to do the same thing to the RSV especially where the rear exhaust runs close to the shock.
Is there any reason NOT to this ?

Frayed patience and skinned knuckles probably!

Too much attenion to detail for me. :thumbup

I have just done this on mine. For the life of me I can´t remember what i used. It is available from demon tweaks.

Design Engineering - Thats it.

You buy the wrap and silicone spray and metal heat resistant tie ups.

I shopped around and got the lot a daft low price!!!

if i remember rirhtly! wrapping the pipes increases heat within the pipe and gives simmilar effect as more pipe length.yes?
if this is right have you done all your pipe or just the rear section to match the front pipes length and keep your shock cooler?

I know you can get them coated in a ceramic coating which looks better than the wrap

Does anyone know if you can get the coating and do it yourself, either in spray form or brush on coating, would like to do this on mine but i think the wrap looks butt ugly

BB1000, I used to wrap the manifolds in the carbon weave wrap and it used to look awesome.

Your only going to see a small section of it anyhow.

Hi Kiwi

No reason at all not to do that mod, supposed to help keep the gasses at their maximum VELOCITY passing through the headers and keeps the heat away from the rear shock!!

GREAT if you kids like to attack you as you ride in from work as well :)

Cheers Pete

Well once the beastie is up and running again , I will be adding this to my list of "summer" mods :), especially as I now have a lovely Termignoni end can fitted (Cheers Stu - much appreciated )
