bike wont start, optimate says weak battery so just hoping thats all it is.

not started it for a week of cold nights so gone and stuck optimate on her....

live baby live :dunno

Have faith oh worried one, the force is strong with your bike (well it will ba after 12 hours on the opti) :D

Why dont you leave the Optimate on her all the time??

If not you are really asking for trouble!!

Echo Areesmille....leave the optimate on..mate!....If it doesn't start on the first or at a push second go at the starter...put it back on charge!

i know, i only tried starting it for 2 seconds twice then stuck it on charge,

well i took it out on saturday for 3 hours ride, thought it would last on charge for the week how wrong was i :(

I don't know if you've realised but apparently you need at least 10 miles of 'hard' riding to replace the charge used to start the bugger (on the first attempt)...so 3 hours riding in the cold(ish) weather may have not totally replaced the charge, particularly if your battery is on it's way out!...I iknow that's crap BUT it's a small price to pay for the RUSH or riding this Italian beauty...Plus I will reiterate that a good mate has had his RSV for 5 years on the same standard battery (maintained on an optimate) and has never had any starting problems!

Well tried for the first time since posting yesterday to start......

1st secs heard a turn on the engine.........

thought it was going to start but nope! not my luck....

battery voltage was at 12.2 when trying to start it dropped to 9.7v is this enough to turn the monester?

where can i get a new battery from this morn?

at 9.7, your clocks will probably re-set......and nope it won't be enough to turn over the engine!

ok guys might be more serious....

new battery on.........the bike now clicks from under the rear seat and trys starting but sounds pathetic.......

any free sunday to help im on nottingham :(

How long did you charge your new battery for?

Is it a wet battery, if yes and you added the acid pack then it needs to be charged for a minimum 24 hours at room temperature.

If it's a gel battery then you may have a duff battery.

its a liquid battery.

has been at room temperature and was a fresh one from the garage who had already charged it this morning. (the garage is a friend and would not lie about that :thumbup before anyone says it)
