Hairline Crack in the TANK!

Hello guys, I have a 2002 RSV Mille, last week I low sided in a tight turn up in the mountains in upstate New York (caught some gravel and mud) The bike only got a few scratches on the fairings and lost the front turn signal, but it seems like the tank shifted a little bit to the front and made one of the screws that hold the tank down dig in to the plastic, I couldn't see the crack but I could see gasoline gushing from it, i tried to put plastic epoxy, that only stopped the leak for a few hours before it came completely off because of the gasoline, the next day I used JB Weld, it was fine for 2 days, and then I found a pin hole in the weld and more gas was coming out, I added more JB weld on top of that and I hope that holds for a while. Does anyone know of any product that can seal the tank from the inside?

Thanks

it's a nylon tank, it "shifts" around quite a bit even though it dosen't seem so. remove the jb-weld, use some sandpaper, clean the area well and use a high-power soldering iron to seal the crack. job done. filler and paint and you've got a functional tank again :)

Thank's for the advice, never thought about using a soldering iron, great idea!

Just out of curiosity, is it a flat black matte Plastic tank for the RSV Mille 2002? and if yes, are you in the USA and how much do you want for it?

Hey Egax,

On eBay right now there are two tanks, both black, that would work on your ride. One is in NY, the other in Florida. Both are from the 2002 Mille!
