Had Colin at 100% suspension do the Tuono today.

Rear was spot on, with sag and rebound all set perfectly already. (Although the rear rebound adjuster is siezed, which seems common on the Tuono).

Front end was a different story, WAY WAY too bouncy.

He showed my 2 bikes, mine and 1 other, so i could see what he meant by his words. Basically mine would bounce up way too fast and then back down... back up .... lolol. Eventually settling into place.

Afterwards i had a nice down and up motion, settling lovely and happy into place.

Bike feels a lot better, mostly for turn in, as i use a little comfort braking a lot of the time into corners (Yes, i know i shouldn't). So it's easier to get into the corners now and i can actually turn in faster and happier.

Top job by the man with the spanners. :)

Always wanted to get my suspension setup properly, and with Ohlins front and back i guess its now a great time to get it done!! I take it you think it was well worth it, how much did it cost?

Not quite clear from their website, but do they only setup as certain track days, or can you just go visit him and get it done? (if so where is he based) Cheers

Cost is approx £30-40 i believe. Colin supports many race series and also some trackday companies so i don't believe he has a 'base' as such now. Although it used to be near Snetterton.

He's a nice fella... give him a shout, tell him i sent you and i'd expect he'll be nice to you with the bill. Although we're not mates as such we do have a good working relationship back from the days i used to get him to help with my race bikes setup etc. I've never met the guy socially so don't think i'm bigging up a mate etc, he's just a bloke who's set bikes up for me and other racers who i happen to like chatting to.

For me it's always worth getting it done as you know then where you are with the bike. It gives a sense of perception as you're not wondering "is this how it should handle this bend/bump/corner?" The answer in theory is YES, that's how it should do it... now train yourself to work with it to get the best out of it.

I think he was pleasently suprised almost by the back end and the sag being set correctly front and rear, maybe it was someone previously who did it, or maybe it came out of the crate.

I feel it handles a lot nicer since getting it done.

He also stated "we've got a note of all your settings, if you don't like it, ring me and we'll discuss"

Good for you mate.
I've thought about getting mine done on different bikes I've had but never bothered.
I've messed about using other peoples recommendations (on the 636) which was okay, but after what you say it may be worth pulling out £40 to get it done properly

At the end of the day the worst that can happen really is your bike is no better LOL.

If i think of all the time and money i've thrown at bikes, then a suspension tweak is quite an inexpensive one, easy to sort etc.

I had a Falco a few years ago and it seemed to just gradually give up on me and one day started riding like a proper dog. I didn't realise what it was at the time and thought it was just me being a **** out riding. Turned out it was the rear shocker and front forks. Apparently they were all tired and I was told they had probably been like this a good while. This been my first big twin I just didn't twig it at the time ,more focused on sussing out the way to ride the thing after having 4 cylinders for years.
Anyhow, I got it sorted a KIAS near me and good god what a difference.
Fettled forks, new rear shocker and a spring to suit my weight. Like a different bike. Looking back, it was about 8-9 years ago and I was probably about a week away from selling that bike. I ended up keeping it 4 years and have only owned Prillas since.:thumbup

I had mine done by a friend who races in Bemsie. I have an 09 Factory which you would Imagine to be pretty well set for fast road out the crate. No chance!!! :no
Had to raise the rear ride height by 4 mm, take in the pre-load front and back, in addition to a few extra clicks on the compression and re-bound front and back. The biggest revelation was dropping the front yoke an extra 5mm through the forks!!:thumbup turns in soooooo much easier now and feels much more nosey round the bends..... love it!! :thumbup

Seems the factory setup is for 9 stone 5' 7" italian and with me being over 14.5 stone in my leathers I needed a lot of fiddling.

If you like to ride hard then you have to have a play.....the bike will feel completely different when setup properly for you. :cheers
