superb sunday mornin weather ma neeb text, 'run the day'
****** right i says,
so he says the scottish bikers site, wis hain a wee run up tae braemar, he kens the admin boy so invited us along, we aw meets up an there wis aboot 12 o us, noo bein a big site, no everyone kent one another, as it was just posted wi meeting points, so we aw set off, up ma worst road, the wan up tae the spittal,
once past there, the road opens up fir plenty loon riding,,,, bombin doon the glen theres this wee dude runnin aboot the road flaggin everyone down, an i sees a bike stopped and a bit plastic lying on the road, ma initial thocht was some lods visors pinged,
on stopping i seen two o the lads we were wi, lyinf in the over the side an 2 totally ****** bikes,
turns oot one just lost it on the road, an the other boy must have been watchin him, as a car driver said, the secon bike just followed the first, goes to show your body follows yer een,
noo if ye've been up there ye'll ken theres nae kerbs, just tarmac, grass, open fields wi rocks every ****** whaur,
luckily a paramedic an doctor off duty were passin an got right in aboot it, road was shut for two hrs, which we couldnae understand as both bikes were right off the road, nae mess at all, they had to be airlifted to aberdeen, one boy plenty broken bones, the ithers had to be pit in a coma, due to internal swelling,
a very sombre ride hame:no

hoping they mak a full recovery,

Sorry to hear Sean , to ride with a crowd tends to boost over confidence and the mind wanders especially following someone.

You get a little lax and are not ready for a sudden emergency.
I `ve followed some guys and nearly run in the back , it`s easy done.

Lets hope they are both home soon .

Seany that's a shocker indeed and must have really hit home when not long before everything was hunky dory and well with the world.

Sometimes we all walk a bit close to the edge I guess.

bit o ******* richt enough..ye need stories like that everi noo an again tae gie yersel a shak! Shame oor internal warning system only seems tae last until yer next oot an aboot..

Sad news. It's why I'm always wary about riding in groups with people I don't know. With people I ride with regularly I can usually figure what they're going to do in most situations, but even then it only takes a few seconds of inattention and **** can happen.

Hope the two boys recover quickly.

Crap end to a nice day out indeed, Sean mate. I wish them both a good and speedy recovery. Was out for a play over Aviemore way with a mate and there were loads of bikes out. Just read elsewhere that there was a bike fatality near Kyle too, and we passed less than an hour later. It was a lad from Forres area. A sad day for biking in the highlands. :no

As regards the road closure... it's pretty much standard where there's a serious incident/injuries, especially multi-vehicle ones, to prevent loss of important crash evidence before the Accident Investigation boys turn up.

Sorry all. Ignore the bit about the Kyle crash, I was misinformed. Happened a year or more ago.

^^What he said.^^
I used to ride in groups in my Ducati days. Its was good fun when there was 5 or 6 of us.On one rideout,we met up with some Norfolk lads,so we had around 25 bikes and riders. We ended up with 3 smashed up bikes that day.One guy went thru a hedge, another dropped it on a downhill hairpin, but the worst was the poor chap that misjudged a tight left and crashed thru a 5 bar fence. The bike ended up halfway down a railway banking.
Fook that,...never again.

sean, sorry to her aboot the two dudes, I hope they're fitting fit soon. I know whit yer mean aboot the ride hame, feckin bummer.

Best hopes from the udder side o the pond. What all you have said is quite proper. I wont ride hard with anybody I dont know. That said, you can get wrapped up with someone else who rides over his head or entice you to ride over yours. Keep a clear head and pay attention to you and your ride. Be safe ya'll.
