Gilles Rearsets

Hello all
I'm toying with the idea of getting some gilles rearsets, but never used them before, if anyone here has, what do you reckon to them, are they worth the money?
Also how hard or easy are they to fit?
 
easy to fit, fast spares back up, look ace, well engineered. I love mine on the 02(they crash well too) Better than the last Harris ones I had. also look at Aculign, and Sato, they're good too. You can see the black gilles in my garage. You can go race shift if you want and a quickshifter fits on them nice and tidy

Cool, cheers for that, just had a look at your garage, very tidy looking bike.
Must ask, on the swingarm just behind the exhaust you've got a bit of carbon, where did you get it from?
I need a bit like that but can't seem to find one

They are great....well worth the money. Makes chain adjustment and tire removal a snap...

The thing I don't like about Gilles sets is previously I hadn't been able to get a position I was 100% comfy with (This was on an SV though). I also couldn't get the gear change rod 100% even with much pissing about. I was never really happy with them. I sold the bike before really testing them:confused:confused
 
The above pics are Mk1 version Gilles. The new version has different footrest design and a slightly different M/C mounting which protects the fluid resevoir a bit more.

They work really well. Only problems i've had is the gear linkage moving from vibration. You have to make sure the lock nuts are good and tight.
Also the gear lever hits the exhaust if in the lowest/furthest back position on mine.

matey, its a stick on plastic swingarm protector from rsvr.net. You can get them in CF, see them on ebay a few times. Not sure where you can get them frm tho(hopefully someone will put up a link for us) they usuually come with the left side cover too. bout the last cf piece I need.

FAO spoonz

spoonz, I'm seriously contemplating getting some Gilles to get over the rear brake issue. Would you just confirm that they come with a brake lever and gear pedal. I have an '07.
 
Thanks CK, couldn't decide from the pictures on the Internet. Some showed a brake lever, others didn't. Suppose the easiest way is to phone the suppliers rather than buy online! :cheers
 
see if rsvr.net has a decent piccy mate.
You should get a pair, after quite a few miles the linkages on mine are like new, whereas the harris ones i had before were worn and sloppy by then.
Just dont forget to use LOADS of thread lock on the linkage rod and sprocket bolts!.
