Which begs the question, "how do you adjust your chain Nob ?"
To which I answer, "like this you Nob"

I was a bit sceptical about these when I got them because the marks are a bit vague but when you nail everything together their pretty obvious. Adjustment really is a piece of piss with these on, well worth the dough, and the lifter plates are a 1000 times better than the tiny bobbins.
Happy days

Nob, dae ye reckon ye could ditch that lifter doofer an fit bobbins usin a longer bolt thru wan o the two bolt holes? Ah think ye dae get an option like that wi the Gilles...

The lifters are optional, I fitted the chain adjusters to both ours years ago, even had them on the Tuoldo.

The lifters just looked a bit **** IMHO so I didn't bother with them.

Chain adjustment is piss easy though, once you have your rear wheel aligned, you just put the same number of turns on each adjuster and Robert is your mother's brother.

oi get that chain cleaned!

looks yummy and got piccys

You cheeky be atch :lol, I'll have you know that chain is protected with the Rocket Centres mostestest bestestestest chain lube aplied by their chief technician :thumbup

They look nice nob where you get them?

Im not sure on the lifter bit though

Ebay bargain, 75 rupees. Lifter bit is a bit,,, well obvious in its size ey. Not the prettiest but its just so easy to use a paddock stand now I'm leaving them on :thumbup

You missing a bit of something their BF ???
I think I remember the tale,

That's a Galfer wavey rear disk - or at least the remains of one. Rear brake was binding, it got hot, the fluid expanded & the brake went on harder, etc.

Rotax V990 vs. scabby little back brake - it overheated & the disc exploded.

ah wiz jist aboot tae ask aboot that BF min, ah tak it ye remained upright?

Bats, whits new mucker.

Yeah - it was the first run of the year a few years ago. I just nipped out to warm the engine through to drop the oil etc. I remember thinking, that the engine braking was a bit fierce :)

I got back to my garage and pressed the back brake to stop at the doors and promptly rode straight into them.

I dont see these listed for the '03 on Gilles website. Are they made for another bike or discontinued? Anybody?

But the destructions are **** :thumbdown

Yep...I'll agree with you there Mr Nob

When I fitted the little plate behind the adjuster and tighten'd it up, it appeared that the adjuster was twisting as it pinched the rear of the swingarm. I fixed it by using 4 stainess washers (2 each side) and the whole lot fits in hunky-dory now with no visable misalignment, twisting or stress...

Their always seems to be some play in Gilles stuff, the Variobars I put on me Rsvr were like that. When you grabbed them they almost felt like they were moving/creaking but they were rock solid, wee yuured.

They are not listed for the 03/04. I got a set listed for the later bike - they were a discontinued colour and very cheap.

You have to fettle the swing arm on the earlier bikes to fit them.

It's not as drastic as it sounds, but the Tuoldo swing arm casting isn't a particularly accurate one, either as a result of the welding or slack limits, the channel the chain adjusters sit in isn't quite straight. It needs a bit of attention from a file (dremel). There is also a small boss at the front of the channel that needs a bit chamfering off to clear the adjuster.

Depends if you can be bothered :dunno

Great, saved me again Bat! So would the Mille be the ones to order? I can and will bother, its in my nature to fettle.

did not like the idea of fileing my nice shiney black swing arm so this is my method nothing wrong with the other way but i got the adjusters cheap and would cost a lot less than a new swing arm if i ?ucked it up

all the mods i have done are to the gilles not the swing arm i have made a cut out of the front of them to clear the small bump / boss and made the adjusters fit right into the swing arm with only 2 washers on the pinch bolt as the rear caseing is recessed this brings it level again i also filed them top and bottom to give clearance now this is done all 4 flat spots of the adjusters sit flush with the swing arm [the bits iamtalking about is the 4 m4 size bolt holes that must be used for differant bikes ] .so no need to try and fit the rear part of the adjusters that hold them flat will post some pictures soon as it will make more sense when you can see what i did , just got to do a bit of tidying up to make them look nice i will also be replacing the crappy steel bolts that you use to adjust them with some nice stainless ones i will turn down in the lethe so i can fit the roll pins back in and they work the same + i will tap out where the back fixing should be so i can thread some nice bolts in to block up the holes left or fit the lifters

please bare with me ,,,,, it will all become clear lol
