Hi All, I've just got myself my first Tuono - a Blue '08 Gen 2 with the 'Aprilia Racing' branded Akras. As this bike is new to me, is there anyway of knowing which map is being run/whether Map 2 has been activated?

Thanks in advance.

No - main dealer only job which they will charge you for.

Does the bike run lumpy as buggery under 4,000rpm? Still on map 1.

Is the bike relatively (it is a big V twin after all) smooth at low revs? On map 2

(Both the above relate to free-er flowing cans such as Akras).

Only way to know for sure, as Stix says, it to take it to a dealer who will check with an Axone diagnostic machine.

Thanks guys - it is as lumpy as hell below 4k, but it's also on standard gearing too, so that probably doesn't help. A trip to the dealer it is then!

Dropping a tooth on the front sprocket does make a big difference. Some go +2 at the back, but I've not bothered.

Not sure where you are based but you need to make sure you have a decent local dealer:lol:lol

If yo are within striking distance of Tamworth in the Midlands then Griff at Aprillia Performance is your man:thumbup

I think Southern Cross have a good reputation also

Whatever you do make sure you use a place that has been recommended

If it seems really lumpy check your 2 small vacuum hoses on the gear selector side of the engine for splits

Thanks guys - I have seen Griff's name crop up all over the place on this forum; but I'm based in North London (Hertfordshire border) so I may struggle with that - anyone in London have a favoured dealer? Baffles came out the second I got the bike home and won't be going back in.

I'm definitely going to go down a tooth on the front, despite all I had read, I was still suprised by how highly geared the bike is as standard. I'm assuming the 1 tooth drop at the front doesn't throw the speedo out too much?

i'm loving tuono ownership though - although I'm finding myself looning about far more spiritedly than I ever did on the bum up/wrist down sports bikes I've always had - the idea was to take life more slowly!!
