Right guys. Had abit of a revelation in this gearing lark! Turns out the speedo is delayed!. I noticed just now that it kept climbing after I slowed down! So with this in mind I slowly rolled up to the limiter in first and second 1st 63mph, 2nd 90mph. Tadaa! I was looking at the speedo when the limiter was cutting in, and it obviously was still counting as it hadnt caught up!
Phew! Thought I had some spethal bike which had the box put in by agency staff at the factory!
So i`m sure it`l be a 17 on the front, allowing downgearing to 16 without ******** stumpy gears, more boom, and all is well with the world!!
Wolf - They are different, if you rode an early R1, say 01 -06 sorta shape, you couldnt call them gutless.
If you blipped the throttle at 4k in first on either my R1`s you have a near vertical wheelie on your hands with no clutch straight away, and from 90 in second no problem. They are just different.
Um, best way I can describe it would be an inline comes out of a bend like a big rubber band, with constant hard linear pull that grows more and more as you hold it pinned. Where as a V2 sorta comes out and goes BOOM, then fades away (or so it seems by comparison). But the inline (i`m talking litre) feel like they are trying to rip the rear tire away from the road as you come out of a bend, where as the V2 tend to hook up and drive.
One thing I have noticed is all the latest inl4`s seem alot less gutsy compared to the earlier bikes. Compare an 08 R1 I rode to my 01 carb or 02 injection R1 and it felt almost restricted and ball-less down low, but are BIBLICALLY fast once you get them into third and whack the throttle at 8k plus. Where as the older bikes tend to have the boom in the middle and less up top. The V2 is like that but more so. So I find its easier to ride at its fastest, as where you are in the rev range, or what gear your in isnt as important.
Anyway your doing well going from an RS50 to a new shape Mille! That must`ve felt like a jump! lol
