Hi Guys,

I have a 16T front sprocket & a 45T rear....

Any ideas how many links im gonna need on my chain??? 108??? 110???

Not sure...Doh!

Gav.

Cheers LEGS...

Any idea what kind of acceleration im gonna get out of this set-up??? Top speed???

Gav.

16/44 needs 110 links so 16/45 Shud go, 16/45 is really a (short) race track gearing. 16/44 is plenty for me(and the road) and will top out at 166mph. So 16/45 will knock a bit out of the top end(mebbe 8-10 mph??), but it will certainly be a wheelie monster!. Let is know how it goes!! Barp Barp
cheers cK

Richmond yours is an 06 factory, different bike, different gearing and different chain length to the earlier one :thumbup

Yep, if I knew then what I do now, I could have saved myself a chain, and fitting charge as I would have just bought myself a smaller front sprocket, fitted it myself and used my original chain as there is nothing wrong with it. But I went the other way, bought rear sprocket 44 tooth and tried to use original chain, but too short, and not being certain whether smaller front sprocket would do I bought extra length chain instead. :rant,
Hope this makes sense. :confused

Hi Sprocker, Glad someone has had a chuckle at my expense, :biggrin, you LYAO dosn,t make my wallet feel any better,
Makes sense to read threads, or ask if not sure, could save lottttts of money, as the saying goes, you learn by your mistakes.
Best part about it was, the chain I bought off fleabay (new) DID Xring gold and paid proffasionals to fit, :jack, was actually knackered, (real tight spot) so I had to remove myself, luckily enough the guy I purchased from gave me a full refund, but still cost me £30 to get fitted.
When I watched the shop fit the first one proffesionally using 2 hammers :confused, I thought I could have done that and saved myself £30, so thats exactly what I did with the next one I purchased.
Moral of this story to anyone who is not sure, read threads or ask questions before making any purchase.:thumbup

So what gearing did you finish up with RR, BTW a disc cutter to remove the old chain and two lump hammers is all you need to flatten the rivet pins, simple job really, all this chain splitter stuff is nonsense, tiz not needed.

Big up to you for admitting to the world you are a plonker:thumbup

Away Badger, didn,t admit to the world I am a plonker, only this site, so dont spread the word, :megaphone, but you are right, dont need chain splitter, though every time I go out on the bike, I do have in the back of my mind, I fitted this chain, is it going to be ok, I am travelling at 145mph + (ON PRIVATE ROADS), before you wrap my knuckles, and do check the link every time I get off the bike, I just think that if it has been done by so called proffesionals you have nothing to worry about.:skeptic
Gearing, 16 front, 44 rear, though I might change front to 15.
The bike rides 110 percent better now, but have nothing to lose by changing the front sprocket now I have the confidence to shorten the chain, ::doug
