Gearing for the track

V

V_senna

I'm still on standard gearing on my rsv, was wondering what I should move down, was thinking to leave front sprocket standard and go up around 4 teeth on rear? what gearing are you folks using?

15/45 is what i used on my 01 bike, but i use 15/46 on my 04, works on most tracks, maybe silverstone would need taller gearing, 15/43 or so:thumbup

For 01-03 I believe it's 17/42.....Just been cleaning rear sprocket which has 42 stamped on it and have taken front off which is 17 & moved down to 15 on front.

15/45 is a massive difference then, might aswell try a few different ratios.

is there such thing a speedo healer for these aswell?

I guess if you're after a decent track set-up you've got to go a bit extreme...my bike will probably never see a track, so a more 'reserved' change is appropriate...Hope you find something that suits you!

Mate you don't need a speedo healer as the pick up is a sensor on the rear wheel so it reads the speed despite any gearing changes!

Yep, pretty much...only problem is that if the sensor gets wet you can get some very strange speedo read-outs!
