Gear selector indicator

KB,s spot on..

T5ONO post is, as i said a silly question.

I spent nigh on 10yr as a part time instructor, and have seen this issue raised time and time again, but only for cbt trainees who struggle with the basics.. but for an experienced rider !! ffs yer may as well have fluffy ears stuck on yer lid.

the only indicator you need is a neutral light.
and as it says, it itself is only an indicator, not a guarantee that you have neutral.

come on now T5ONO ... dont back off now.. tell us we doing it wrong

How about one of those loud buzzer things that tell you when you've left your indicators on as well :lol

T5ono we all like a bit of banter on here and you can get a lot of help but after reading your comment i think you are the tosser

Only ride on the track, riding on the road only teaches you to go slower. You come on a forum looking for help & all you get is a tosser with 33 years road riding experience giving you crap. Take your panniers & Baglux & put them on a BMW where they belong. To the rest of you gents thanks for your input
See you at Cadwell, Mallory or Oulton Park in Sept, I will be the one on the Tuono Factory
End of thread

I know i don't post on the forum as much as i could but with this guy's comment i had to post, i'm with Keith B, i've also rode bike's for 30 years and never needed or wanted a gear indicator, T5ONO, what a ****** tool, a gear indicator won't make you a better or faster rider, also the comment about the side panniers, etc, made me laugh, me and probably many others have out ridden so called fast riders "T5ONO" even with side panniers, back box, etc, fitted to the bike, get a grip mate.

LOL...I saw the thread name and left it at that. I thought WTF next and didn't bother looking into it. fooever I now notice that it's got 2 pages worth o posts. Hmmmm I thinks, "I'll hiv a look and see fit awe the fuss is aboot." And fit div I find...a couple o posts at the start, and then the rest slagging aff T5min. Well I'm nae gan to slag yi aff T5, because I think better men than me have already done it, but I suggest yi change yer username because I doubt you will get ony sense oot o the other gadgies noo. Nae good ti call folk tossers dude.
You could of course fezz up and say sorry to everyone...that might help.

They gear indicator jobbies are ***** onyroads......nae 7th gear.....any wan in the know kens a T wi 15/42 needs that...

ffs yer may as well have fluffy ears stuck on yer lid.

fair point well made....but how the f*ck are you supposed to calculate true wind speed without fluffy ears?....admittedly, the mohican stick on is excellent for calculating crosswinds, but tbh, I've found nothing better than the fluffies for 360 deg wind measurement....

What the fook does anyone need with a gear indicator?I've never needed one in 33 years of road riding. To me they are a waste of money and a distraction.
You should be able to feel what gear you need by revs, speed, engine note, etc.

This was KB,....in the Fens,....6.30pm,....grumpy old git.

I think you`re being a bit rough on T5ono.
You might be happy without one as am I but I still try to get 7th. gear (NO , there isn`t one) when my mind wanders.
Everybody has different idea`s. we are not all the same.

I think calling evryone a tosser (T5ono) will alienate you and then you will be in a kind of Limbo with Pike myth

Oh dear.
While I DO think that gear position indicators are a complete waste of time,...my origional post was intended to be a bit of FUN.:yes
Some folks seem to be taking it way too seriously and its all got out of hand.

KB,the Victor Meldrew of the Fens.:rolleyes

I doubt if anybody gives a **** where you'll be!

I assume you take your bike everywhere in a van?

I'd love to do a track day but I am far too scared that I'll run my bike into the gravel or come to some other terrible / expensive end.

Ride with the banter T5onO ... it's nice and warm when you get used to it!

Bloody hell, i read this and thought i had posted a question given the responses !!
Stick in there T5ONO they will love you in the end, i had a bit of a difficult birth here but now they all love me, well sort of!! You have to admit though some of the responses are pretty clever and funny ? Thats what made me stick around.
As for gear position indicator i had one on a bike once and found it distracting as i kept looking at it !! Surely a big twin like the T is much easier to ride on engine speed as its so evident compared to a IL4. Surely on a track you want to be looking where your going, at one man and machine not thinking lets just check what gear im in?
As for the neutral indicator thats easy to know lots of revs no action !!

"Bloody hell, i read this and thought i had posted a question given the responses !!" ... Well, you hadn't

"Stick in there T5ONO they will love you in the end" ... No we effin won't (unless you give us beer)

"i had a bit of a difficult birth here but now they all love me, well sort of!!" ... **** off.

"You have to admit though some of the responses are pretty clever and funny?" ... Yes indeed they are

"Thats what made me stick around" ... Sheesh. If only we'd known that from the start we could have avoided a lot of unpleasantries

"As for gear position indicator i had one on a bike once and found it distracting as i kept looking at it!!" ... Agreed. The only bike I ever had with a gear indicator was my first ever ... a GS125ES ... and then it WAS enormously useful

"Surely a big twin like the T is much easier to ride on engine speed as its so evident compared to a IL4" ... Absolutely agree

"Surely on a track you want to be looking where your going, at one man and machine not thinking lets just check what gear im in?" ... Agreed although on a track day why would he be looking to see what gear you are in?

"As for the neutral indicator thats easy to know lots of revs no action!!" ... Agreed

An excellent effort Myth.

How is the latest Pikelet doing and have your nads swelled up like mangos?

The V'4 Tuono comes with a gear indicater as standed . I have been rideing bikes for over thirty years , but I coud do with an gear indicater evry now and then for track days ,it wood sertenley stop you over reving the engin down the geears at times , the Rotax engin dosent like it much .have seen two RSV'R's blown up now on track days , have a ges at what gearing they were yousing . Eney way I am allways on the fence ,with posts befor you Tossers start on me .:yes:thumbup

I agree with everything Pikey said, but saying that, it is easy to over rev one of these.

On more than one occasion I have glanced down during a bit of enthusiastic riding & saw the rev limiter light on.

Maybe its becasue they are still pulling at the end of the rev range, unlike a jap 4 which goes flat ?

On all my bikes I have never had a gear indicator, I think it would be a distraction.

But I am in the habit of looking for extra gears that dont exist.
