Hi guys an gals,

Please can ya help me, been havin a major problem goin up and down through my Mille 06 gear box....

Feels like I'm havin to knee it up an stamp down the gears....!

Many thanks...

Mine was the same a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like it clutch may need bleeding. I just hadto bleed the nipple at the top near the lever. Some bibles came out and it's spot on now.
Lots of posts about clutch bleeding if you look but like I say, mine just needed the top one doing. Hope this helps

my bleed nipple on my clutch slave cyclinder is absolutely tight as anything. scared of shearing it if i give it anymore ooomph ... :confused

Hey guys,

I've swapped my clutch fluid now and my gear changes are smooth now...

Dunno what the top bleed nipple on the handlebar does tho, only did the nipple by thr footrest...???

Hi Smithy,
If your clutch is as bad as mine was, it looks like you are going to have to take some action.
The difference on mine was night and day, its a pleasure to ride now.
I think you have a couple of options.
as mille power says, you could try putting new fluid in using the lower nipple if this sorts it then great, but if not you may need to get the top nipple loosened. Why not look for a price for a spare upper slave cylinder, just in case.
If the top nipple does end up needing to be loosened, I would personally give it some wd40 now, then if you do need to loosen it make sure you have a good quality spanner that fits well and just go for it.
As I mentioned above, this is merely what I would do so dont blame me if it goes pear shaped. Its your call at the end of the day.
Hope you get it sorted. let us know if you do. Good luck

make sure you haven't adjusted the lever action in too far - I did this when i got my 04 and was wondering what the hell was wrong. Discovered that the plunger don't go in as far when the bite point is pulled in. I now have the bite point out as far as it can go and the gear changes are dead smooth - can even find neutral from first with just a tap. Funny thing is, the adjuster screw vibrates itself back in, so I have to reset it every so often -haven't got around to thread locking it yet

I had same problem on mine last year but with the slave cylinder leaking nearly dropped it cos of it had to replace it cost me 5 pound of ebay replaced it ,its a different bike now!!!

Stupid Mille clutches...

Check out my thread on DEMON TWEEKS??

I've got some more info on there about this clutch slave cylinder!!!

Only use the clutch for 1st and neutral so couldn't tell if it good or bad...it just changes when i want it to.

Genman, do you clutchless down shift aswell? Know racers are doing it but only ever gone up without it.

****** great:thumbup where did you manage to get a telepathic clutch i want me one of those:devious:nana

cheers for that mate but im only having trouble undoing the bleed nipple on the slave. my clutch is all good, just the fluid is black as night. bike sometimes jumps out of gear into false neutral when riding but im pretty sure this is only when i do a half-hearted job of changing up !

The bleed nipple on the handlebars is for bleeding the master cylinder, which also must be done. Air builds up and limits clutch action on mine here first.

I upshift without the clutch always when under power. I was curious, so when I changed the oil and filter, I examined the oil after allowing to settle and cut open the filter. There were no metal bits at all. This follows 6000 miles of upshifting without the clutch. I am satisfied that it is safe to do so.

The other reason to bleed is water takes up residence in the fluid. Consider bleeding the brakes as well.

I've just bled my clutch lever now and it's made a massive difference!!!

Gear changes are smooth, town riding is smooth and can even get it into neutral while the engines on....!

Only 1 problem I need arms of popeye to pull the clutch lever!!!

Can do ..but only as low as 3rd......slipper is too slow for going lower and just unsettles the bike.....takes a bit of getting used to as well
