Ok guys - a little update and frustration all at once

bike still sh**e at starting, so i'm convinced its fuel related.

lifted tank and took of overflow and vapour breather pipe off.
the vapour brether was completely blocked with a whitish greyish residue...
cleared that with a pin then allan key (hope it supposed to be cleared)
thought i'll take the tank off and see if this rresidue is everywhere

fuel pipe clip (what a fookin barstool to put back on)
to the point i couldn't get it on, so i'm gonna have to go to diy shop and buy a small jubliee clip to hold fuel line in place

what the ****....... am i stupid or do Aprilia make everything so difficult??

has anyone else had this same problem? do you need a special tool to get those clips on?

spent 5 hours in the shed trying to fix it - gonna make me late for work tomorrow and i still haven't had chance to test the fuel pump fully

I'm with you sir. Aprilia click clamps, total bunch of arse to get off :rant and i'll be fecked if I can ever get them back on! Jubilee clips and pressure clips for me :roll

Sorry, can't help with the fuel issues, but fully supportive of a ban the click clamp uprising :pirate

hi buddy gotta agree they dont make it easy for ya a perfect example is the seat fook me ya have to bend it in half to get to the screws shocking "2001 related"

i believe the tool you need is available but ya have to travel to devon to collect it they call it :confused **** whats it called Oh yeah thats it. its called a spoonz :laugh

If it's any consolation they got worse and aprilia have decided they are pants and have a recall pending on some tuono's and rsv's from 2005 till 2007 to change them in the tank.

The reason they are a bar stool to refit is cos your not meant to. Single use and then throw away says Mr Aprilia although i have re used an oil line one several times on my bike (naughty Boy)

we're getting away from the thread guys

come on need advice on removing and cleaning pump filter etc

should i bin the fuel

can i use a fuel cleaner solution in the tank

ok
had pump out - no bother
no obvious fuel or filter problems, a little bit of muck in the fuel but nowt bad.....

well at least its one less thing to check on my process of elimination

next its some electrics, think there was a immobiliser attached to this bike at some stage as there's resoldered wires at the electrics that feed te fuel pump and starter solenoid.

would the heat generated from the exhausts, warm connections thus making it better as they are under the seat and get warm post ride?

what would cause this?????? arggghhhhhhhhhhhh

what would work warm and not cold?????????

have you ever had the software version checked in your ecu ? early versions were known for fueling issues especially on Map 2

Once you have the tank back together turn on the ignition with the tank cap open and put your ear to it. see If you hear any bubbling or gurgling noises during the primeing process.

latest update
found 3 different places where a alarm/immobiliser has been taken out with not too much finess, one of which was the connector to the fuel pump
re-soldered these and found also a nick in the earth to the starter solenoid.
also found a connector under the front right front carbon panel that wasn't connected properly.....
it appears to be starting better, so i'm gonna monitor it, to see if its a coincidence or not.

Good news, hope you've sorted it once and for all. :thumbup

Dunno what the weathers like up in your neck of the woods but it's perfect riding weather here in Kent. :doug
