Some time ago the internal breathers in my tank failed so that when I fill up fuel pisses out of the external breather pipes.
However digging around I found that there are two versions of the tank

The ordinary Mille with breathers or the RSV-R with the breathers blocked off.
Can i just block off the breathers as per the diagram ?

My 03 Mille R's tank breathers are there,& not blocked,if you block them of you will have nothing but trouble when washing the bike or rideing in rain, they got blocked on my Falco & Mille & it was a pain in the arse, water getting in the fuel tank everytime you opened the cap, might be different for pure track use only, where there might be issues with fuel spillage when it's been dropped

We are talkin about the filler neck drain arnt we ? as my 02 plate RSV-R has a bloked drain and suffers from water ingress in the tank, think i may need some conpressed air to unblock it

Scott, you can't block off your breathers mate. You use the bike in all weathers, you would as said above get **** loads of water in your tank every time you opened up the cap and in high temp situations where is the pressure going to vent out?

If you ask me you're heading for trouble in blocking them off.

Chances are all you have to do is replace a section of hose about 12" long, should take about 30 minutes of your time mate.

Anyone know how to unblock the overflow breather underneath the filler cap. Mine's blocked somewhere and have no idea how i can unblock it. The pipe fixed onto the bottom of the tank that vents down to the near the footpeg is fine so it's definately in the tank somewhere.

Lift the fuel cap out of the way, put a rag in the tank to stop crap falling in and then blow it through with an airline.

Only way you can do this mate, you can try doing with your own puff but it's damn hard, been there tried that. (Turned out mine was a little more serious)

Failing that it's disassembly time I'm afraid.

Thanks AMB, the thought of blowing my tank put's the airline option a stern favourite i think !

One last thing, when you blow it out make sure there isn't a fluorescent tube above the bike.

When the crap blew out it shattered the tube and millions of tiny fragments of glass went everywhere. (The neighbours thought I was friggin mad hoovering the bike and shed floor at 11pm) :roll

You are mad...........quite mad, but I promised your wife we would'nt mention it in public :pirate

Airline wouldnt shift mine, needed to use a piece of wire first to lossen it then used the airline,Bang all the **** that was sitting in there covered the bike & the car parked in the garage

Legs, all of mine were blocked at the bottom of the tank outlets, i pushed a fine strong wire through it a few times to clear the build up of whatever it was, that is the only place i have found any problem:thumbup
