Had my first "proper" ride out since my upgrades. Managed to get 64 miles to the petrol light :thumbdown so I'm going to have to look into either getting a bigger tank or reduce my fueling.

**** me you must have been ragging the nuts off it :lol

I usually get around 80 to the fuellight ragging it or 90+ if a little more sedate.

Ps, I think I'll give the secondary injector mod a miss or get a towbar fitted so I can take more fuel with me.

I got the Tuoldo down to 80 miles to the fuel light recently, however it never came on at all on Saturday and that was around 100 miles

We where on a fruity ride. But the first petrol stop is normally 86 miles. May alter my fuel map abit slightly less power but more range. Going to look at the 2014 tank option again extra 1.5L
Is a nice jap4 tank on eBay but at £1700 it's abit expensive

Haha I have managed 8 more at times :crazy I call my Tuono George as it drinks like Mr Best did :cheers

I know they like a drink but 64 miles, that is just bloody rude!

I just find its a vicious circle with this bike, the noise is like thunder,I like thunder, thunder = more throttle and well you know what more throttle = :biggrin

^^^^^^Nailed it :thumbup

How does the reserve work on this bike. Fuel light came on then the dash started counting up from 0 next to the petrol pump symbol.
So if it starts to count up what number does it run out of fuel at. All the trip computers I have had count down to zero

Ive been looking into alternative tanks for the V4 to give some extra capacity.

2014 and newer tanks are 18.5l but are very expensive from Aprilia and very rare on eBay for a small gain.

AF1 have a tank listed from the Aprilia course catalogue which is quoted as 0.9l bigger than 2014 model so 19.4l again very expensive once you take import fees into account. AF1 Racing : Aprilia Parts and Accessories: Aprilia Corse Racing Fuel Tank, Bare -COC130018 -

There are a few different carbon fibre ones on eBay ranging in price but still over the 1k mark again quoting 19.5l

I have also found a company who do an aluminium tank at 23l still not cheap but best gain for your money. TamburiniFactory.com Catalogo OnLine

I have bought myself one of the aluminium tanks :thumbup will be awhile before I get around to fitting it as im away with work till end of May then off to the TT. But will keep you all updated with results.
Here is to no more worrying where the next petrol station is ha ha :lol

There is a guy on AF1 that has an ally tank on his yellow 12 and it looks hideous.

Probably because he has left it bare ally, but also the lines look wrong and don't suit the rest of the bike.

The one in your link seems to be a better shape[emoji106]

64 miles :thumbdown

You must spank it because i would expect better milage. You happy with a/f ratio and the dyno work?

There was a guy flogging aluminium tanks on ebay various sizes from his old race team he may still have them, not sure if they sold them all.

Yeah I'm happy with dyno time, set up to run more economic 20% throttle and below then full power above that. I have a feeling it may be because of the Austin racing can allowing the engine to breath a lot better. Would be interesting to get back on the dyno with the akrapovic system to compare.

I agree with you rizla I don't like the look of that tank, seen a pic with the one I bought looked a lot better. I'll be getting it painted aswell keeping the yellow.

I did manage to get the price down on the Ali tank paid €1300 still not cheap like. I'll get some photos up when I get home, show what it looks like on the bike

Seems a shitload of cash to "cope with " your mpg issue :eek2 I assume you knew the possible low mpg you would get following the performance mods that you have undertaken on a potentially very thirsty machine.
If that is the case and you are lucky enough that cost is not a concern, then I have to say that I am really jealous.

Good on you, enjoy your T :hail

Gray :cheers

I didn't think it would be that short of range. It came to the point of getting a bigger tank or selling the T and I thought I had already spent too much on it to sell.
The trick is I'm currently single so don't have anyone complaining on how much I'm spending :lol

Ha ha. I get 90 to 100 miles. Just go slower...

Look forward to seeing it modded though.

Geez- is this norm for the v4s- I get 120 per tank...?

Am I the only one who thinks this looks wicked?
