Hi all, i've been a broswer on this forum since i got my RSVR in 2012 and up until now i've been lucky enough to have a faultless bike...... until now and i respectfully ask for help.

After a winter in the garage the battery died. (even though it was on optimate) I fitted a new battery and finally brought my Meta 357 out of sleep mode. It wouldn't start so i fiddled with every connector and fuse i could until it started. In the process my clocks were reset!!

Three weeks on and only two rideouts the fuel pump only seems to prime when the bike is cold. If it starts and i run it for 20mins, stop then switch on and de-immobilise, the pump priming noise doesn't happen and the bike will only crank.

Have you guys any suggestions?

As an update, i have checked:

side stand switch - ok
alarm connectors - seem ok
tilt sensor - seems ok
pulled what i thought was the fuel pump relay ( front RHS under panel next to fuse box) had no effect.

4 wire connector under seat on LHS next to battery, looks old and dirty with grease in the pin holes - fiddling with this causes the EFI on the dash to illuminate and seems to re-create the issue???? i'll try and clean it and see.

I had a similar prob with mine
My pump would start running with out key in wot the prob woz the main lead goin into the ecu under the seat was shorting soo it maybe worth lookin at

ah right, I know what you mean. The plug I've been fiddling with goes directly into the loom.
It's starting at the moment after I squirted wd40 into the plug but i'm not satisfied so i'll trace the wire and see where it goes.

do you know where the fuel pump relay is located?

If ya sitting on the bike its left on the sub frame u have to take a pannel off tho and u should b able to hear it click when u turn on and off but there will b a delay when switching off

I have an RSV R 04 with exactly the same issue. Turn key on, hit the start button and just hear the fuel pump. I then flick the key off/on again very quickly and then hit the start button and it works (but only for a short time and then cuts out). If you just turn the key on and try to start, only get the fuel pump.

When I saw daz's post above, I thought i'd check out that 4 pin connector (just wiggling it a bit) and BINGO!!! turn key on, started first time! thanks guys! I'm going to test, cut and rewire when I've found the dodgy section... YOU BEAUTY!!! :D

Glad you sorted it mate.
I was so concerned that I might have had a dodgy fuel pump but thankfully it is running well again.
Unfortunately in my method of trying to find it I reset the clocks !
My next challenge is to get the rear brake working before MOT this week.

heh... it only worked for a short time :/ i must have knocked the tilt sensor when having a look at the 4pin connector. Bike is finally working (after turning the tilt sensor upside down - the person before me must have taken it out of the rubber sleeve and turned it upside down)
I also had that rear brake problem. I had bled it a couple of times before I knew there was a leak in there. Once that was fixed, she's been sweet...

nothing worse than riding a bike that you can't trust! (my MV is much more reliable!)

Yeh, I did give the tilt switch a shake for good measures.
Strangely I avoided the MV thinking they were unreliable but obviously unfair assumption.
Cheers
