Fuel light comes on after 90 miles!

As title, I rarely get over 90 miles before the fuel light comes on... Is this normal? I even got 92 miles when riding in the wet so keeping it slow and never accellerating too hard.

Today I worked out that I get about 29mpg, that was with a mix of hard riding and sensible riding. This seems very low and just wondering what others get.
I am on a 08 RSV with Akros and map2.

Cheers

I get about 110 miles until the fuel light comes on. Similar setup '08 Factory + Akras

I get 90 mate they drink a bit but i dont care i just stick it in and have loads of fun:thumbup

cheers for the replies.. looks like it aint too bad.
Was just worried there might be something set up wrongly, and it is annoying having to fill up all the time!

Can anyone tell me how much is left when the light comes on. Roughly how many miles before she s dry?

Getting around 100 cruising but have done a tank in 82 miles. Used to be better so hoping will improve once I get my throttle bodies done.

I was out with Rrsvr64 today and he normally gets about 90 before light comes on his 03 CE Rep. He has a problem with the bike tho' at the minute and got 62 and needed to fill up again .

Just to piss you off i got 152 before the fuel light :biggrin I usually get 138 but have been trying out the V Power super unleaded. Dearer but getting another 14 miles to the tank is good :thumbup

I have been trying Tesco's "super unleaded" with similar results , around 141 to reserve. :doug

So it seems that unscientifically "super unleaded fuels" may indeed improve fuel economy :thumbup

4 ltr's + or - 1 ltr. So best to fill up asap when light comes on. :thumbup

I always use Shell V Power.90+...fast A B roads.Touring,especially empty Irish motorways(steady 75 80)138 to 150.All depends how it is ridden.Worse I know is a mates Firestorm......small tank,poor mpg......60+.

02 RSV - 82miles to fuel light... everytime like clockwork... then got my TB's & TPS done... ... 82miles... then started putting in V-Power... ... ... yep... you guessed... 82miles !! :doug

this includes A12 for bout 8 miles... then 10miles start/stop in London !!

im going to fill the tank with Duracell batteries next... see what happens !! :devious

im also going to do a dyno this sat with me GP Can... & il run it around for a week to see what that gives !! :eatcorn

Interesting topic, I get around 160 Km per tank (100 miles) and on highways and 100 Km (68 miles) per tank in town.

Will a power commander help with the Milage per tank? How much ?

blimey I normally been getting about 115 before the fuel light comes on. Interestingly today I was out with a mate on an '07 R1 and we filled up together on same petrol. By 90 miles he was gettnig nervous. We found a petrol station at 115 miles or so. I filled up with 12 litres. He filled up with 16!!!!! He has it fuelled for his twin race pipe though..

I have an 04 RSVR model and ride into Central London everyday, My Fuel light comes on after 70 miles every time almost on the dot. My 01 model would give me over 100 easily, I swear I have not put weight on (honest) and don't ride like I'm on a track but bloody hell mines a thirsty lady.

I can tell you that my o6 with Akros and map2 is about same as yours but will only do 48 miles of very steady riding until push time,
fuel station 49 mile fook that last mile was warm

Christ!

My 01 went all the way to newcsatle from ponte and some of the way back b4 the light came on! over 100 miles at least

And theoretically if some jumped up twerp on an R1 had tried to ride up my arse on the fast lane of the A1 on the way there. I probably would have gone a bit fast and still have not got the light!

I've worked it out to about 45-50 to the gallon.

Sounds like not only could i not afford a newer bike but not run it either!

you can afford to run a new model. mine goes 115miles to the light regular, and i still enjoy my self doing it.:thumbup

2002 RSVR with race can, hooked airbox & 16/45 gearing, ridden 80-100mph on motorways and opened up on twisty roads and i still get 130miles to fuel light and easily another 20miles before i fill up. that's 150miles and im sure it would do 160m.
why is there such a large discrepancy with tank range, what could be causing this if TB set up, gearing etc isn't affecting it?
something must be wrong if you cant get 150m to a tank road riding even if you open it up a bit. althoughhaving said that i don't do much town riding.
