Went in the garage to put the Mille on the optimate incase its sunny tomorrow and it stinks of petrol out there.
Opened filler and the drain is blocked meaning a load of water went in the tank!!!!! then I look under the tank and its dripping fuel fromt he pump plate somewhere!!!
Why do these things happen when you have a full tank as well.
Gonna be a long night in the garage I think!

Awwwwwwwwww crap dude, I reckon you might find that the breather/overflow hoses have split inside the tank (metal tank) or the little "nipples" have fractured on the fuel pump base plate (plastic tank)

drain was blocked at nipple thats all.
base plate was leaking as the bottom of the tank is distorted.
need to get some fuel safe sealant tomorrow.

I have some fuel safe gasket sealant if that would help? Shame to hear water got into the tank..

How are you getting on with it? Weather looks grim for tomorrow if that makes you feel any better..

15l of good fuel went in the wifes car.
1l in the moped and the last bit had about 100ml of water in it so was binned.
just need to get some sealant in the morning then ill put it all back together fill her up and it should be all good again.

I had this a while ago mine was leaking from the between the pump plate and plastic tank. So got some ordinary clear bath sealant, and sealed it back up no probs since

Standard acs silicon is suitable dont be ripped off by marketing, i used to be the buyer for a company who manufactured silicones, epoxies, anaerobics, glues etc. We used to sell acs silicone under a no. Of different guises at different prices. Same product different tube... But if anyone took the time to read the tds and sds sheets they would have discovered it was exactly the same....

so the sealant I used in the bathroom will be fine?
Acetoxy curing silicon!
how long should I leave it to cure before refilling the tank?

been reading up on petrol in the UK with ethanol content and it seems most standard unleaded except Total have 5% Ethanol content.
All of the super unleaded blends do not currently have Ethanol so its Super from now on in!!

Ethanol will fcuk nylon tanks (they stretch and distort ), big big issue in the US and will get worse here once they got to 10% or even 15%.

Well I put 5l in this morning and all appears well so might go out for a new year ride in the morning.

Sounds good. Lovely weather, just cooked a large fry up might take my girlfriend down to the new forest late afternoon, she's not been on it yet. Sounds like your fix worked
