Front wheel spindle - nothing in tool kit!

Should there be a 30mm spanner in the tool kit to get the wheel bolt undone?

I've gone out to do it and now can't as I only had a big 32mm spanner for the rear, same size as the one in the tool kit and I assumed they'd be the same size!

don't tease me, i've had a gash day!

mind you, lack of tools stopped me fitting a **** part-worn tyre...

am sending it back now.
 
Aah the olde, what should be in the tool kit question.........whatever you need is my answer! I used to carry spare fuses, spanners, cable ties and even a can of that tyre weld just in case! Got to say mate, be careful of part worn tyres...I've used them and look I'm on to my second Aprilia!

Get yourself a socket from your local factors, try get a hex one but if not a bi hex will be fine i use a sykes pickavant 32mm impact socket. its lurrveely.
we sell them at work if your struggling to find em. :thumbup
 
I got a decent 32 beast of a ring spanner, but my front axle is 30mm?!

Will get a socket eventually, have got a NEW tyre on order instead, I thought fcuk it, it's only £90 fitted, I'd have been paying over half that to have this part worn on the bike.
 
Jay, how do you torque the wheel nuts up correctly without a socket set and torque wrench?

I don't.
If it's hard to undo I do it up as tight, if not I go easy. Don't get me wrong, if I go near engine bolts I use a torque wrench, but for the rear axle nut which is huge and hardly likely to strip by my right arm, I just feel for tightness. I've never had a nut or bolt fly off in 20 years of spannering my own bikes.....

Always ride & in out for fronts, this time would have been the first time I would have been arsed to get the wheel out and take it for a change myself

Right with you on this mate..Hex impact black sockets..1/2" drive for the torque wrench. :thumbup
 
Anyone confirm if they have a 30mm front though? Rear is deffo 32mm but offered the ring spanner up initially and it was too big.....

Will get a couple of sockets shortly, Intensive cleaning will begin as soon as I've found a shed!
