front sproket change

Considering changing the gearing to the 15/42 that you lads say is the way to go. question, 07 model is the front sprocket only held on with the single bolt. my Kawasaki's all had tab washers and or where a lock nut, the type you chisel the edge into a groove on the output shaft. had a quick look on the rsvr today and can only see a bolt. how easy are they to get undone. Kawasaki were always ficking tight. had to use a 1/2 in drive air gun to get it off. does anyone know the tourque setting or do you just do them up FT. lock tight or not. and i take it they are standard thread anti clockwise to undo. thnks in advance for replies.
been out again today. finchingfield run. now up to 640 miles. first service looms.

Yup the one bolt mate is all.

However you will need to be aware that the oringinal front sproket will have rubber attached and the after market wont...apparantly no after market one will have so dontg worry bout that.

It was tight coming off but a cheap halfords 3/8 drive ratchett had her off no bother.
Also you will need some locktite, TBH i only realised this when I noticed some on the thread of the bolt and on the inside of the bolt housing..

Dont know the torque mate I tioghtened using the swag method which was ttiiiiigghhtt.

I have an 04 RSVR Factory reg 05 same front sprocket as yours...15 is the way to go..not too noticeable but makes slow traffic liveable.

Go up a couple on the rear too - Makes a hell of a difference and still gives around 169mph
