Recently went for a minor slide with my mille, after getting it back from the workshop for replacement of various LHS roadworthy items (mirrors etc) I'm fairly sure theres been some twisting in the forks that needs to be corrected. I have a lot of rigging gear available so I could support the bike's weight pretty easily.
First observation was bike pulling to the left gently and as a result wandering/weaving instead of tracking straight and generally feeling pretty unsteady.
Hard to tell by eye but the front wheel looks slightly skewed to straight handlebars. Finally comparing the distance from front axle hole centres to bar ends there seems to be about 15mm difference between left and right.
I've read about correcting this by undoing triple clamp bolts and rotating steering head to release the tension held in the forks and clamps. If this is confirmed to work is it totally necessary to support the weight of the bike with a stand? Probably seems like a silly question, but I think one worth asking for sure.
I am planning to get into a suspension workshop for a proper setup soon, but if i can get it a bit more ridable with my own two hands in the mean time it'd be perfect.
Any other tips from the wisdom pool appreciated!!
Andrew.
