5 mm seems like a lot to me. There should be some play at the buttons to allow for the thermal expansion between the disk and hub but not that much. Do both sides have the same amount of play? Is the amount of play the same all the way around the disk?
I had an full floating disk (13 inch diam) from PM back in the late 80's (long time ago by industry standards) that had about that much play at the outside edge and you could hear the buttons rattling at slow speeds. I have very little play on my '05 and it is about 20 deg F in my garage right now.
