Folks,

Would be much obliged if anyone can advise on the bolt size (mm diameter + length) for a standard 2003 model (2004 plate) Tuono for:

- Front callipers:
- Rear calliper:

Planning to replace rusting originals with stainless bolts.

Thanks in advance.

Gerry,

Appreciate the offer mate. Currently only planning to go for stainless at present (if significantly cheaper)... as the bike is a 'basic' spec 'Fighter'.

However, I understand the M10 60mm x1.25 are for 'radial' fit bolts on newer models. As my bike has the Brembos with 'axial' bolts, I'm told they are much shorter (35 - 40mm ??).

Can anyone verify... and confirm the actual bolt length for a 2004 'Fighter (2003 model bike)?- Otherwise I'm going to have to make the effort of actually measuring them! ;)

I also understand removing the original hex bolts from the calliper can be a problem on earlier models (according to 'Powerhouse brake refurb specialists), as bolts can be so soft the head rounds off. Can anyone confirm if that is a known issue on the 2003/4 year variants?
- if so, any tricks to remove old bolts without having to drill the heads of??

Thanks chaps!

...Paul

I swapped my caliper bolts with no issues. Cant remember size but ordered stainless replacements from pro bolt before i found this site and they were way more than garry is offering for ti ones.

Yep... glad I was sitting down when I saw Pro Bolt prices...! :crazy

Garry,

Haven't tried to remove any of the bolts yet - as weighing up probability of success and will buy replacement set first, to minimise bike 'down time'.
The bolt heads are 'partially/lightly' rusted, and bike has only clocked 21k miles, and otherwise v-good condition.

Do you envisage problem removing 'mount' bolts, or just 'pinch' bolts... or neither on a 2004 plate 'Fighter'?

If your response is +ve re. the 'mount' bolts, and you can cut them down to the right length, I'd be glad to bag a set of 4 titanium front calliper mount bolts!

now now gentlemen, paul came on here asking for advice on removing the bolts.

he may well have taken the natural erosion option...

Hi Guys... thanks for the advice...'encouragement'... and a laugh... :thumbup

Been traveling and just caught up on this thread. Being busy... and wanting to jump on the bike any chance the sun shines, I prefer to get the spec, order the parts, remove old bolts, replace with new. Rather than remove bolt, measure, replace same bolt, order bolt, remove bolt, replace with new bolt... etc. Also, getting several bits together for a 'clear run' to tidy and service the bike... rather than a few dribs and drabs...

And how hard can it be to get the spec for the rear mount bolts... on a forum like this anyway??? ;)

Found out following so far... bolt size (mm diameter + length) for a standard 2002 - 2005 model (gen 1):

- Front calliper Mount Bolts: M10 x35mm x (1.25mm pitch)
- Rear calliper: (?? - still looking perchance anyone knows already)

I'd take one out and measure it for you mucker,,,,,,,,,,,,,thing is though I ain't got a gen1.

I reckon it would take all of 90 seconds tops to do but time is precious as they say. :yes

calliper bolts are NOT 35mm
Are so,....dont forget these are not radial mounted calipers.
Rear bolts are M8x20mm.I think its standard thread pitch,....although I cant be sure,....sorry.
