Alright folks,

I'm hoping you can help. I bought a pair of Galfer wave front discs for my 2000 model Aprilia RSV Mille about 1 year (4100 miles ago) and i seem to have a problem with them. There is becoming more and more "rotational" movement between the discs and rotors (particuluarly the left side disc). I understand they are floating discs but the movement is beginning to score the rotors as the discs move, which i don't think should be happening...:dunno

All of my miles have been road riding. Barring 4 laps of the Nurburgring..:thumbup

Can you tell me if there are replacement bobbins i can get somewhere rather than having to replace the discs (£320.00!!) that i can replace the "faulty" ones currently on the discs/rotors?

Bought them from Demon Tweeks about a year ago (threw receipt away as you do!) but they claim they cannot find the transaction anywhere and as i've no receipt they've wiped there hands of it.....CLASS ACT EH....:jack

Any help again appreciated.....:thumbup

Did you pay by credit card Andi :dunno you should have a record of the transaction on your statement..

As sprocker says, if you have bank statement to show, then they have bent paperwork at their end. cheeky buggers.

Regarding the play you have there on the discs, I was comparing mine to Looney Tunes ones tother day and we noticed that my ones jiggle around a lot more than Loonies. His arn't seized I dont think but they were way tighter than my ones. We both have the same 02 model. Not sure which one was right.
How much play should there be?:dunno

Not hijacking your thread mucker it would be good for us all to know how much movement is acceptable.:eatcorn

Cheers for the advice guys, unfortunately i changed banks about 6 months ago and have no records of the previous account now (b*stard!!) They truly are at it as i remember the guy i bought them through at Demon Tweeks knocked £20 off and free postage.....:jack!! Won't ever buy from them again...:jack

Anyway, Black Sabbath, i spoke to Bob at Bob Grant Racing based at Knockhill circuit (when he was doing my PC111 custom map) who basically said that there WILL be movement of varying degrees between individual discs but mine have started to score the rotors where the bobbins join the rotors and discs, which definately shouldn't be happening....:rant So, if your rotorsaren't scoring or scratching the discs then they should be fine bud. Mine are F*CKED ! ! :rant:rant:rant

Has anyone got any ideas about replacement bobbins:dunno:dunno

my galfers are scored a bit, still work fine though, yours must be in bad shape? to write them off??
What pads are you using?
Ck

Hi CK, i use Bendix pads, have done for a while. The discs/rotors aren't overly bad but they are definately moving a fair bit (especially the left one) and just don't want it to fracture or similar when on the move! Lost a wee bit of confidence in them. Hopefully i can get new replacement bobbins!!

i'm having the same problem with my galfers.
My fork seals went and on some of the bobbins their is a little spacer sandwiched inside and on on some their isn't.

My disc rattles around like mad too.

I was thinking of contacing galfer.

I wonder about emailing a bike mag or mcn or something then.

Like the technical pages. More than one email and they might answer or look into it

Sounds like a plan bud, i'll email MCN and Performance bikes tonight and see what happens.

Cheers

Will never buy Galfer again tho as still not even a response to my email.....:jack
