Hi all, this is my first post since "the crash".

Need some advice about when to service my showa forks (03) and if one can tell if they need servicing.

Thanks

From memory it's at every major service (12500 miles) ish.

If the oil has done more than that even if you have no ill effects the handling will benefit from a refresh. In general unless they leak of you have play from the bushes just do the oil changes periodically and they will be fine.

Thanks Spoonz. The seals aren't leaking or anything I just feel they are little difficult to get setup properly and feel a bit harsh on bumpy roads. Besides I've hade the bike for two seasons and have no idea when the oil was changed last. So I will change the oil this winter.
Any recommedation on a good oil?

The service interval on Showas is every 14k miles according to my owners manual

Just services my Ohlins and other members recommended 'Motorex 5wt', much cheaper than Ohlins oil and a nice red colour too. Forks seemed much more compliant after the oil change.

I've used motorex engine oil for all my bikes with nothing but good to say, so that was my thought as well.

Depending on the funds past new year, i'm considering sending them off to have them "ohlins replica" done thingy. I allways wanted to have a nice pair of golden legs but don't have the means to go all the way. Any one of you heard of the job firefoxracing does? For 350 they do a complete ohlins replica conversion according you personal needs with gold anodizing and all.

I'm assuming thats with the gold TiNi coating on the sliders and gold anodizing on the stantions, Griff at aprilia performance has them done as well but just the anodizing not TiNi.

give him a call and he'll give you the run down I'm sure - he's a very amenable chap indeed.
