Hi thanks for the gearing advice and tyre advise from my previous post, after forking out for the new C & S service etc now have a leaking fork seal, anyone know anybody in the berkshire area that are realy good and quick as i dont want to ride it now that i have found the leak and it has already got on to the front disk. my RSV is fitted with the Ohlins forks if it makes a differance.
:confused

Clean the forks, drop the dust seal, clean again, use something thin and strong like film negative to run up inside the seal between the seal and the stanchion and try lever out and down any dirt/grit which may have caused the leak..

Worth giving this a go before you look at replacing seals, unless you need to refurb the forks anyway..

Pump them up and down several times to allow the seal to seat again, clean oil off and check to see if it works :thumbup

It has been reported that the seals do leak and can be remedied quite easily..

Try the sealmate ,I got one off eBay £4.50 and it worked a treat on my R.

If you do have to change the seal then its pretty straight forward, my 2006 R had a leaking seal on the left ohlins leg, I'd never changed an oil seal before but from start to finish it only took me 3hrs, that was including making a peg socket to remove the top cap.

I did read about people really cleaning the fork leg then wrap a bit of Sellotape around it and push the forks down, this is supposed to free any debris possibly stick in the seal. I preferred to just change mine.
