for those who have changed gearing

Not sure what my gearing is pike but mine is smoothe whether in 1st or 2nd at that speed. Prob in 1st I'll be at about 4k revs at 35 and about 3 in 2nd. Hope that helps. Gilos when I rode it wasnt smoothe though until it was over about 40 to 50 and giving it some welly

Pike, if weather breaks I will let you know in first and second gears. Right now we are getting sideways rain.

...I know I'm gonna regret asking this

...but why do you want to know?

...and how much difference does it make anyway?

...you have 6 gears to shuffle around...surely one of them should do the trick?

...less time looking at clocks = more time looking at where you're going...seems like a fair trade to me :yes

My Tuono had 15/40 when i first got it, and found it quite snatchy round town and slow riding was a pain, even with micro throttle management
I upped it to 15/42 and the ride is just so much better. I normally short shift first, especially with a pillion as the front can get lively, but it's fine and better to live with than the tall gearing as was.
Not sure at 30, but at 5500 revs I am doing about 85

Thats the reason its very snatchy round town and half my ride to work is through town and traffic and wondered if changing the gearing would smooth things out.

It certainly does smooth things out. You will either be slightly higher revs in 2nd or be able to carry 3rd, and the larger sprocket didn't need a new chain either, so what you waiting for?...get a new sprocket on order.

Hey Pike... i fully support what Wes said. I had 16/40 on my new factory when I bought it, rode for around 6 months then went to 15/40. This was better but nothing like when I finally went to 15/42 9 months ago :)))) I just love this gearing........smooth, always in the air and yet still good for 150 in top gear. You know it makes sense.......it a must do mod!!

As the Welsh leprechaun said, my Gen 2 is rough as buggery around 3000rpm (Mivv Gps, map 2). May need the throttle bodies balancing. As for rpm at 30, in 3rd it's at 3000rpm or thereabouts so quite jerky, so I tend to leave it in 2nd which is that bit higher revs so smoother (15x42 gearing btw).
