Flat spot

My bikes got a flat spot between 4-5k, it's got a cut down blue flame exhaust, k&n air filter and apparently chipped.
What do people suggest to get it running right?
It's obviously a bit rich, will putting the standard air filter back in help much? I don't fancy putting the standard exhaust back on either, it's mahossive.
Money's a bit tight so can't afford a power commander and dyno time, also need new tyres
Thanks mark

Think it could be the cut down can. Many gen 2's run erratic with cut down cans even on map 2, so my money is on this.

Gen1 isnt it?Fitting the standard air filter and exhaust wont make it run any leaner,...it will probably run richer.
Could be you have a custom chip fitted,(Gabro or similar)and its not been set up correctly,....or changes to the intake/exhaust are not working.
GF could be onto something with that cut down can.I know my Gen2 did'nt like big bore open pipes.

It's a gen 1, it runs fine, not erratic or nothing.
Just got a huge flat spot, I'll try putting the oem filter in and go from there, I know the can isn't going to help though.
It's a bit of a pain cause you crack the throttle open, goes like stink, then flat.................. Waiting waiting........ Bam were off again.

If it's lean, it should Run ok though should it? I thought running rich makes it bog down?
Never had anything Italian though so I'm all ears ✌️

Is the problem always at the same throttle opening?Could be the TPS wants resetting.

Only ridden it twice mate and always at 4k to 5k.
how do I find out if the tps needs adjusting? With my gsxr I put a paper clip in a connector and you'd see on the dash

Well before you attack the TPS,you should have a look at more basic stuff first.Check the chip/pipe/filter combo.I think there is a couple of trim pots in the ecu you can tweek. You might also want to check the throttle body balance.
Good luck with it.

Thanks kb, can the trim pots still be adjusted if it's the standard chip?
Is there a thread about adjusting the trim pots? And what they do? I'm reluctant to just start adjusting things I don't know about.
I take it they lean and richen up the mixture?
This bike is so different to all the jap stuff I've had, so you'll have to bear with me :)

Yes there probably is a thread on here somewhere,...do a search,...although a lot of great info got lost when the site crashed a few years ago.
The trim pots basically vary the injector timing and you can alter the idle mixture.Pretty sure they dont work with the standard chip.I know that some aftermarket chips unlock them.Gabro, for instance. So check the chip first, before ya fiddle.
The pots are on the outside of the ecu,...to the right of the connector block.I read somewhere that the 12 o'clock position is a good starting point for both of them.

Doh!......forgot to say, have a look at the spark plugs too.(I assume you have done that?)

Previous owner put iridium plugs in just befor I bought it and I've got the receipt for that as well.
I'll check and see what chip I got 1st and go from there, unplugging the ecu, do I need to disconnect the battery 1st? Thanks for explaining all the bits and pieces lol.
I'll get there soon.
Cheers.

Update

I've just had my collector modded and my flat spot is now gone.
