flat battery

Hi there went to the garage today to get my 05 rsvr out and ready for a new mot. The battery was dead even though it had been on an optimate all winter. I put another battery on it and it fired up fine, the problem is the odometer has reset itself to zero, any idea of the cause and how to fix this.

regards Talula:dowhat:doug

When you connect the optimate, you have to turn it off to connect it then switch the power on otherwise the charging cycle doesn't start :thumbup

Can't help with the clocks mate, apparently it's a known fault with the newer models :dunno

thanks for that sprocker, it did the same thing whilst still under warranty and the dealer told me there was nothing wrong, I'll have to look into it as it is showing 20 miles at the moment.

regards Phil:dunno

Best bet is to fit a timer switch to the optimate, so it goes off for say 15 mins a day, then comes back on, and can restart the charging/maintaining cycle again.

Also wired my extra set of indicators in to the headlight whilst i had the front end in bits, which went a lot more smoothly than the dash didm but alan saved the day:doug

Got my new spare bodywork today, so will spend my spare time prepping it ready for me to decide what colour to go for, and will leave the bike alone till tuesdays departure date.:doug:doug:doug

Still waiting for someone to offer me a bellypan front centre v piece for a 2000 model though:roll
