Fitting Chain and sprockets

Afternoon all,

Not being afraid to undertake any form of mechanical works, having built two kitcars and rebuilt my Yamaha Vmax, I have never split an old chain and fitted a new. Now whilst I understand the process, I am hesitant that this is one component that you don't want to fail especially at speed!!!!

I have a 2006 silver and black tuono 1000r, I want to retain the 15-42 set up, thinking a gold or should it stay silver chain??? and ditto with new rear sprocket......

The question is .....should I do the work myself or get the MOT station to do it when I take her in....(Aprillia service centre)

and what chain do you all recommend.

Thanks.

J

If yer handy enough to build kit cars and rebuild a bike, changing a chain over'll be a dawdle.

There's a bloke on here sells chain kits at very reasonable prices, as for what make to chose I've nae idea.

Any quality manufacturer will do fancy pant "O X Y or Z" ringed chains.

Do the work yourself,...chain replacement is dead easy.Your service centre will charge you a fortune for doing the job.

I use a local bike shop with free fitting on parts bought through him :thumbup
