hi i am getting a leo vince end can says it will run with no mods was thinking off putting one off these k,n replacement jobs in the existing air box is it worth it or keep it as it is hope you can help kirk.

I would suggest if the manufacturer says you need no mods then go with them. The can was obviously designed that way :thumbup

It will run fine on standard filter, the K&N will make it draw a little more air, but negligible, the benefit of the K&N is it is cleanable and you don't need to replace them for millions of miles, basically fit the can and the standard chip will be fine, my advice though is to fit an airbox mod to get the best out of it and put a 1 tooth smaller sprocket on the front, these are cheap mods that will give big results per pound spent:thumbup

Hi Kirky,

I fitted a BMC air filter to mine with the Aprilia Race can and chip, the air filter made very little difference.

I have now fitted the Evo airbox filter/mod which does make a lot of difference in power and induction noise. I would recommend that you save your money on the K&N air filter and put it towards either an Evo or Renegade airfilter/airbox mod kit. I seem to remember Badger on this forum mentioning something about being able to make your airbox mod kit for a fraction of the price of the Evo/Renegade kits. Alterantively they do quite often come up on Ebay.

Cheers
Chris

hi you said go 1 tooth smaller on front what sort off difference would this make to top speed is it worth it?

Kirky it should make accelerating quicker but you might lose 10 mph at the top, no big loss there. I'm doing this mod soon myself :thumbup

You will almost have the same top speed just doing one tooth on the front, but you will have a fair bit more acceleration, these bikes are geared tall when new and need to be lowered a bit, your bike as standard is 17/42, go for a 16 front tooth, less than £20:thumbup

thank i will get a sprocket and give it a try do you think 10.5 is ok to set rev limiter at as new to these gimmicks?
