Hi chaps
Had a blast over to Wales yesterday, bloody good roads over there, eh! Anyway, had about a dozen false neutrals and even on a couple of down changes where it was a little worrying as I went for the throttle, no drive at all, just revs and then it engaged and fired me forward. Made the ride a little more 'interesting' shall we say. Any ideas please? cheers

I was gettin a false neutral bettween 5th & 6th, so adjusted my gear lever position lower and have had no prob since, maybe check all linkages are nice and free.

3 things to check, chain tension is correct, your clutch master cylinder may need bleeding and as Buffalo said, check the position of the gear lever

I managed to sort mine by replacing the clutch oil jet which was a 65 with a 40 jet.

Although I do suspect that my main issue was that I came from a ZX6R that had a slick gearbox to an Aprilia that needs to be rammed in to gear with a bit more ummph.

Thanks for the help fellas. I've dropped the gear change lever to the bottom on the cam as I was having problems lifting the old toes up enough. The chain is slightly slack as well but my mate with a Mille says that won't affect it as the problem is before it gets to the chain for the drive. I think it could be the chain though so I'll give it a tighten. CHEERS all of you.

your mate is wrong ! all the bikes i have had that have done this have all been cured with correct chain adjustment ,its also a sign that your chain needs replacement if it keeps occurring imo of course :biggrin

its defo worth tryin before looking at expensive stuff anyway ..

Yeah, I think it's the chain deffo. Reason I think you're spot on is that i've just refitted the rear and it was fine before that. Can't be a coincidence can it. The chain is the original and might need replacing too. I'll do as you say. Cheap stuff first. Thanks a lot mate.

Try shifting this way, clutch, apply the presure on the shifter (shift) and dont let go, release the clutch, than let go of the shifter.

Thanks mate, i'll try that.....if the chain adjustment doesn't work. Don't generally use the clutch though on 'up' shifts as its much quicker.....when it works of course.
