Had a little time on my hands today so I decided to fit the rad guard I got with the bike.

Had to take off the side fairings to be able to fit the guard in place. But the main problem was that the guard would not fit into place because the clips fouled against a cable clip:

There was no way to get arround it so that the guard fit square and the mounting holes lined up. So I took drastic action and had to cut half of a clip off:

This allowed the guard to fit into place and was a snug fit against the cable clip. all the bolts then fitted and the finished product looke dlike this:

You like?

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if the guard I had was for a different model or year?

Main reason I put it on was because my dad just got a GSXR1000 and the first ride out with his friends a stone was thrown up by the bike in front and bust his radiator! Something I could do without so I fitted the guard.

made my own for both rad and oil cooler for £4.99, of course i am a tight jock:biggrin

I got mine with the bike so it was free. But I do have some mesh thats the same and the idea was to make something up for the oil coolers. Any pics or ideas of how you went about fixing it on?

Basically i cut the mesh to size and finished off the edges by using black insulating tape folded over the edges to remove sharp edges and corners etc., then all i did was made two holes large enough to take the two fixing screws you see in the pics, put the mesh behind the plastic guards and fix through the two screws

Job done, simple and looks good, i have done over 2k miles now and not had them off, they have never moved either, the top one is just fixed with small zip ties, total cost, less than a fiver:thumbup
