Exhauste Question - which one sould I get considering DELKEVIC

Hi,

I'm considering buying a a 2009 Tuono R. I live in California and we can lane split here :thumbup, and I do it every day, and pretty fast. My life depends on being heard by drivers. I've been looking on line, and I think these Delkevic stubby's seem cool

http://www.delkevic.us/?section=sho..._oval_mufflers&start=0&search_term=&order_by=

The dealership wants me to either get Aprovik or Leo Vince. They tell me Leo Vince is the louder of the 2. Delkevic says that the 9" will work with the 2009, the dealerships says that they don't trust them, and with the Leo Vince they won't have to tune it, and it'll save me money, and work better on the bike, probably.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this, and has anyone had any experience with the Delkevic's

Thanks,
Brian

Morning Brian

I've been riding through traffic for 3 years and lane splitting is legal in the UK......as long as you don't get caught :sly

Whatever can you choose, as long as you leave the baffles out, they will hear you coming. The difference between Akra, Leo Vince etc....is just degrees of loudness, they are all LOUD.

I'm sure you know this, the dealer is pushing the ones they can sell you. There is a fuel map (map 2) that they can install in 2 mins that is for all non standard slip ons. No further tuning is required, unless you want to get serious with a power commander.

Personally, if you like the stubby look I'd go with Mivvs......I think you get what you pay for and Delkevics are cheaper for a reason.

But go with what you like, don't let the dealer convince you of what they want.

Mattie / briand theres no law against undertaking in Britain either mate. As far as I was aware when I was in the Police its a complete old wives tale. I don't say I do it on a regular basis and if I do its not dangerous but I guess like America you just have to be careful that someone doesn't pull in front of you.

PS I wouldn't go for Delkevic either.

Like Mattie says they're all loud. I went with an MTC can myself and I'm more than happy with it but I'm considering putting a MIVV on myself. Thats the one I'd go for.

By lane splitting I think he means filtering though - in the middle of two lanes?

And as above they all sound good just some are louder than others.

Yep, that's what I meant. But top inside tip Bay :thumbup I was convinced undertaking was illegal.

Well mate heres the official ruling

The Highway Code discourages undertaking on motorways with some exceptions (rule 268): "Do not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake". Undertaking is permitted in congested conditions when frequent lane changing is not recommended. On other roads, the Code advises drivers "should only overtake on the left if the vehicle in front is signalling to turn right" (rule 163). Rule 163 uses advisory wording and "will not, in itself, cause a person to be prosecuted", but may be used in evidence to establishing liability in any court proceedings. On all roads, undertaking is permitted if the vehicles in the lane to the right are queueing and slow moving. Undertaking in an aggressive or reckless manner could be considered Careless Driving or more seriously Dangerous Driving, both of which are legally enforceable offences.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to call the MIVV dealer in a few hours after I get a little sleep. I also found this on Ebay from GPR. And I think this one looks AMAZING! It's a GPR

any opinions about GPR?

And yeah by lane splitting I mean riding between two lanes of cars. It's sometimes called lane sharing. My FZ6 has a Two Brothers System, and drivers can hear me from far away. I'm going to miss that high pitched whine, but I'm excited about the Tuono. It's a far superior than my FZ6.

:clap:clap Excellent knowledge Bay....I can say I learned something today at work.

I don't know much about GPR Briand but they seem to make some good stuff. Oh, and if people were getting out your way with an FZ6 they are going to run for the Hills with your Tuono.

By the way, can you believe there are now 9 posts on cans and Mr Nob hasn't made an appearance? Is he OK?

I've hear the GPR exhausts are top quality. They were on a racing bike in Ride magazine the other day.

PS from what I understand Mattie undertaking isn't an offence in itself although changing lanes and overtaking on the inside can be classed as dangerous and is an offence. So theoretically if you doing 70mph (hahahahaha as if) on a duel carriageway or motorway you can undertake if you're in that lane and theres slower moving traffic on the outside lane of you but if you're in the same lane as the slower vehicle and you change to the inside lane thats classified as overtaking on the inside which can be classed as dangerous driving.

Lets be honest about it though most of us if we were caught doing that wouldn't be doing 70mph anyway and would prob be done for speeding anyway ;)

One of the exhausts to definitely give a miss though is Hawk ;)
Morning Stix

Cheeky bugger - morning fellow Welsh loon :thumbup

Another recommendation for Mivvs - said loads of times now how nice they look & sound.

That GPR ebay add is for 1 can I assume and it doesn't include the baffles which are $50 extra. And at only 10 inches long it'll be a bit iffy with the fueling imho. Not to mention at 10 inch unbaffled it'll/they'l blow yer fookin eyes out yer head.
Crappy add needs clarification. Good stuff GPR though.

Thanks for that Bay, i also was convinced it was illegal.....never stopped me doin it mind !!

Bay is being naughty.

Hawk and Pipewerx are indeed fine cans ... great value and with lifetime warranty

He's a little tinker is he not. And he keeps the ex-copper thing quite quiet ;)

Pretty sure he's left the copper thing well behind. Certainly doesn't stick to precisely the speed limits on derestricteds :)
