Having just got a pair of shiny titanium and carbon cans for my lovely bike, what's the right way of getting the springs off so that I can fit them? Presumably a screwdriver and a pair of pliers is asking for trouble?

Long nose pliers. Pull and get ready to watch where they go if you get a pinger :devious
I normally put a scrunched up piece of rag behind the end i'm not pulling, that way they just ping and bounce off the rag.
