Exhaust mod

I am in the middle of modding my Tuono V4 by adding:
RSV4 upper injectors,
RSV4 RF airbox (bigger, better flow),
RSV4 RF exhaust headers (Made by Akrapovic for Aprilia and a direct copy of their own evo 2 headers)

And thought while I have it all laying about I will clean up the RF collector by removing the exhaust valve and welding in a piece of stainless.

When I say "I" I mean a local craftsman that rolled a piece of stainless tube to match my AR link pipe and welded it in place of the exhaust valve.

Stunning job :thumbup

Just need to assemble it all now then ECU back off to Gabro for some more Italian fairy dust.

Another piece of the puzzle..........

Dash firmware swap to RSV4 firmware to work with the hybrid Tuono / RSV4 mapping that is going onto the ecu at the weekend.

Tuono white dial changed to a black RSV4 dial and the Tuono flash screen updated to show what lurks beneath.

A few weeks ago I decided that I was going to add upper injectors to my 2012 Tuono V4.

After speaking to Gabro we decided that the best way to maximise the upgrade would be to add the Airbox from the new RSV4 RF as it has a larger capacity and flow.
Then match that to a set of RSV4 RF headers.

Parts list:
RF Airbox complete
RF headers
RR velocity stacks (we decided against the variable stacks)
RR Upper injectors
RR engine loom
Akra carbon slipon to replace the AR GP2 for maximum gains.

Once I had all that fitted I sent off my ECU, CLF and dash to Gabro for a custom reflash.

I was incredibly lucky timing wise as Gabro's friend (Orazio) has done the very same mods and was taking his bike to Gabro that weekend for a custom setup on the dyno.

I sent the Dash as the new software that was going onto my Tuono ecu is based on an RSV4 ecu and the dash in it's current state would not operate with the new ecu update.
I took the chance to have the dash "flash screen" (the screen that pops up as soon as you turn the key) changed from the TuonoV4 logo to Gabro's GRT logo.

I also had the white tuono rev counter background changed from the stock white, to RSV4 black.

The CLF went away too as it also needed to be encoded to the ecu after the reflash.

Initial dyno graph.

Both runs were running 8 injectors, but the second run also had the RF airbox and headers.
At this point the mapping was still a little rich, but the increase in power and torque was very niticeable.

After an anxious wait as the German customs decided they didn't like the look of my returning equipment and taking 24hrs to check, clear and repackage my kit I finally got it back.

Firts road test:

I was told by Gab to wind up traction control a little until I get used to the power delivery and revised TC settings.

Sound advice from the master.

The Tuono was already modded and had an reflash before we started so it was a fast bike anyway.

Now it's just plain bonkers.

Power delivery is smooth and instant.
Throttle response is smooth and instant
The pull from 7k upwards is phenomenal
So much so that when I pulled out to overtake someone in 4th and cracked the throttle open the front lifted.

Really happy with the results.

That's one hell of a lot of bits and pieces you've put on yer machine mucker.

Sounds like it's all worthwhile though. :thumbup
