Can anybody tell me if there's a way to repair(clean) my canister. I had bought a "muffler slider" witch at the time seem a good idea, but as resulted in a damaged finish on my beloved and previously pristine bike. The slider is in fact a piece of ****, sorry a piece of plastic tubing held by a very long hose clamp that was wrap around the pipe, with under it a strip of "asbestos cloth" like material to supposedly prevent heat from melting the tubing. On my very first outing at my very first track day with the bike, the thing melted on the pipe. So... anybody as any idea. :angry:dunno:exclamation

Yep, take the bike out for a really hard run to get the can very hot then wipe off the plastic. Either that or use a hot air paint stripper. Do not use a naked flame!

Hi TTrouble, unfortunately the hard run has been tried, all it does is make the plastic a bit soft. If I try the paint stripper (hot air) my fear is what I shoud use to scrape it off without damaging the finish. Thanks for the help.

Hi mate i'd use a wooden kitchen utencil or lolly stick, something made of wood for sure, so as not to mark the metal...

Did you get it off? I also thought of a rag soaked with petrol maybe to get the last of it off?
