Hello chaps ( and chapesses, don't want to be sexist! ) I have a standard 2002 RSV Mille and have the bug for a louder pipe. Any suggestions for improved power and sound without melting innocent bystanders eardrums ? Looking for that balance of being loud enough to let the old codger in his Morris Marina know I am coming round the bend but not so load that Mr Plod has enough time to finish his newspaper before setting up the seed gun.I have a full race Akra system on my GSXR which is quiet when mooching around and sounds great on song. This is my first Vtwin and I do like Akrapovic....but I have worked out they only come in race form without any kind of removable baffle, any experience of these, are they exceptionally loud ? Also have read the genuine Titanium Aprilia pipe is very loud ? Will be a secondhand purchase likely from e-bay, don't really want to buy a new cheap can as have had experience of bolt on cheapies with inline fours and they were rubbish. Cheers.

i have an Akra on mine and it is quite loud, sounds great though. there is a piece of electrical tape over the 'not for road use' stamp on mine, presumably to help get it through an MOT though god knows how? not looking forward to MOT time come May!

Renegades all the way mate!!. That's if you can find a set, rare as rocking horse poo.

I had a Blue Flame stainless race can on mine before I got my Renegades, I sold the Blue Flame to BIGUN here. It had quite a nice tone, not too racy or harsh sounding.

Have to say I prefer the twin can setup on the Mille. Just sounds and looks better than a single can ( just my opinion mind ).

Speak to Andirsv, I *think* he has a couple of exhausts going spare. LOL. :devious

Have a look at Akrapovic, Arrow, Remus, or try Mivv and GPR for something slightly cheaper

I have Fuel carbon end can on mine, seems well made, has removable baffle, pretty loud when baffles out and it didnt cost me a fortune picked it and the link pipe up from Ebay,a few people have them fitted and reccomended them so i got one and has been great so far?,i think it has some type of lifetime guarantee aswell?not 100% though,
cheers

Just fitted a set of mivvs today! I love them-havent taken the baffles out yet, but even with them in seem quite loud, but not frustratingly loud to ride with. Much nicer, richer sound than standard, plus they come with a little card paying they re suitable for roads-almost like they re expecting you to get pulled over!!

Check out the Delkevic shops on Ebay, some serious bargains to be had there. :thumbup

Delkevic are excellent exhausts and are all hand assembled in the UK.

Thanks for all the advice guys, Samgoon, loving that card idea, only thing is I reckon the boys in blue could get infuriated and start with the fine toothed comb ! As it turns out for the moment (until the wifes not looking anyhow) I have decided to go for a steering damper and have just bought a Matris on ebay for 107 quid, I do ride fairly swiftly and in only 3 cold winter outings have discovered it to be a neccesity:thumbup Maybe the pipe will come in the next couple of weeks or so. Have been out in the garage today and found the air restrictor has been taken out and the ECU wire has been snipped on the bike so looking ready for a slip on :thumbup Must say it fuels quite well with the wire snipped on a standard can, there is an aprillia Titanium can with chip at 99 quid with chip that has 9 days to go. The Akra I was outbid on went for 140, more than my lifes worth to buy a damper and a pipe in one night though !

Don't worry about a chip unless you go for some more serious mods, the standard one is perfectly fine with a race can fitted

amb67, you know when I first started looking, the Delkevic cans took my eye but I was almost suspicious of the price, you know the old, you only get what you pay for scenario, I'm talking from past experience of other makes like Micron, I had a bolt Micron can on on a ZXR750H1 and it was terrible, put the standard back on and was happier with that. Mind you, I must say that I haven't seen one Delkevic for sale seconhand on ebay so that must say something.....

Nothing wrong with the Delkevic exhausts, cheap and cheerful doesn't always mean rubbish.

I've seen quite a few and the quality was spot on and the exhaust note sounded real good.

I'm off to the factory next week to buy one over the counter, if you know what I mean. :devious (A real Moto GP slash cut jobby :doug)

Your going to China to buy an Exhaust, thats a bit extreme isn't it?

Yip......just let me know what your after......it's like an exhaust shop in my garage!!!

Thanks for the advice Legs, I've not had cause to look at power mods since the heady old days of carburration but I presume putting in a chip is basically a new map to match one make of can ? A bit like a power commander you can't adjust ?

Andirsv, I love the sound of your garage mate. Sounds like a proper man cave ! I bought a steering damper today so the slip on will have to wait a week or so to slip under the wifes radar but I am on a budget so anything I can get for a hundred quid or so will be doing me for now. If you've anything knocking about you want to out let me know, cheers.

Nah, Stoke on flipping Trent mate. :roll

Does this mean what I think it does Al??!!

Sorry Andi but just got all my parts from Gianelli in Italy and the zorsts are looking brand new again. :doug

I would swap them for an Akra 2 - 2 set up but I'm in the process of making my own one of them too. :devious

As you can see I've been a busy boy.
