I was just wondering what difference this weekends scorcher has made to everyones engine temp.Mine usually steadys off at 75 deg c.Today she was between 85 & 95.Occasionally I could smell a sort of sweet burning oil.For the mechanics out there, the same smell as head bolts removed from an ageing diesel engine.Hope my head gasket`s not on it`s way out:dunnoWater & oil seem ok though.Any thoughts?

You ride an Italian bike surely you expect to smell oil? what do you lube your chain with? What do you clean your bike with? Either of these could be the culprit.

I noticed mine was up a little higher than normal today too (normally 74 ish), between 77 and 85ish, not worried about that tho'.

erm i have never had or seen or heard of a head gasket failure on a bike mate. i had my old gsxr up to 128 degrees water temp for several hours (coolant leak trying to get the bugger home) and it was perfect. a little warm on the legs maybe!

yeah mine was between 85 and 95 and no worries. for starters twins run hotter than IL4's. when it goes over 95 the fans cut in and it cools down again.

ya head gasket is fine bud!!!

Yeah in traffic when stood it reaches 94 before fan kicks in on mine. Trick is to ride it faster to cool it down :thumbup

lol i try that but then it breaks! then im stuck going slowly limping it back home to spend a fortune on it and it gets hot cause i am going slow. its a painful circle.....

HOT!dOWN Here in OZ my babe is constantly above 90 and goes to 98. Sperm count must be close to nutin, lucky i got the kids already. Fcuk it used to be hot, just installed a thermostat from AF1 and now I'm running same temps as you guys, though it is winter.

my old gpz had a head gasket go, it was 15 years old though! My ninja used to regularly be around 109 in traffic, the ape seems to run cooler but feels hotter cos of where the fans point!

I had smoke pouring out from mine saturday morning smelt like elctrics burning, turned out to be heat shield tape thingy from front of fairing had come unstuck and fell onto the exhaust. huge relief

you blew the gasket on ya GPZ??? my god that thing must have been trashed!

yeah i had some smoke coming from my bike on saturday, after sorting the oil leak, turns out it was the exhaust heat guard right near the rear wheel, bloody things made of plastic so it had just melted to the zorst.
