Ebay bidders

TinMan

Hi, selling my Mille on flea bay, and I've got a guy with no feedback asking if he can bid (I stated I wanted with 10 or more feedback). He seems genuine but is the any safety checks I can do to make sure he is legit? I dont sell on ebay normally so would be grateful for any help in weeding out people who are pondlife,
Thanks

ask him 4 a deposit if he win's it dude 150 thats 150 in ur pocket if he dont buy it

Dificult one.

I would suggest him to see it before it ends and if he is genuine he would come anyway.

And if he is interested go for the Buy it now price straight away with deposit of course?

I personally wouldn't deal with them on Ebay, if they want it then he or she must come in person and deal with you face to face. :thumbup

When I sell large items such as cars etc... I advise that they must have been an Ebay registered user for a minimum 12 months and have at least 10 or more feedback and a deposit of 10% be paid at the close of the auction with collection and payment made within 7 days of the close of the auction.

Ebay's full of bottom feeding scum mate, beware. :thumbup

Why not just put the bike on Ebay with a "Buy It Now" price or as a Classified Advertisment with the option of Offers. That way any genuine people interested can view the bike at your discretion without having any dodgy "bidders".

With the guy that's emailed you, i would just simply state that due to bad passed experiences it may be in his interest to view the bike personally with a view to doing a deal outside of ebay

I never do a 'buy it now price' on ebay I got caught with it once when I was selling my R6. Had a 'buy it now' price on it, the auction had been running for 6 days (7 day auction) and had about 5 people bidding on it at that time. Buy it now was £5500 and bids were up to £3600 with around 12 hours to go. . .

we all know the bidding really kicks in the last few minutes, anyway someone won it with the buy it now option.

Great! I thought until I got in touch with the winning bidder only to be told 'sorry mate was my son messing around' totaly ruined the auction and had to sell the bike to the 2nd highest bidder for £3600 due to needing to sell the bike that week as I was leaving the country :(. I lost around a grand on that cos of some tosser:jack

Sorry to hear you got messed around hardy. There is an option on Ebay not to have bidding from a starting price which includes "Buy it Now", you can simply just have a "Buy It Now" option. Save any hassle then

I think the fact that he's contacted you probably means he's a serious bidder - otherwise he could have just chucked a bid at the last moment anyways. It's impossible these days to figure out the genuines from the c*** - I had a prick bid and win a wheel I was selling then didn't even have the courtesy to contact me until I threatened him with going to ebay and then he just told me to feck orf basically (he had 100% feedback at the time - although not many comments) and then on the other side my other half was selling her range rover on the bay and a bidder who had setup that day contacted her and asked if he could bid but if he won then there would be a delay as he was in the states for a while - we ummmed and ahhhed but said yes and he came through a treat.

Its the luck of the draw these days (sometimes you just have to take a chance)

I sell 50 things a month on ebay and quite afew to peple with 0 feedback.

It is just the luck of the draw mate, some 0 feedback guys are genuine and some are tossers but it's the same with people with 10+ feedback. I get messed about by lots of people with good feedback ratings.

I would take the advice of going for a buy it now with no bidding though, much less hassle.

You can stipulate what type of buyer can bid, I choose people with at least 2 feedbacks, have a credit card on file with ebay and had no 'non payments' against them in the last month.

Hope that helps.

Mahoney.

Hi Mate.

Been really busy developing a new range of Layer8 textiles, finally got there last week. Just hope they sell or I am gonna have to rob a bank for christmas money lol. I am sure the kids will understand.

Any idea of the next rideout anywhere - need to blow some cobwebs away this Sunday if poss.

Steve

Everybody has to start on "0" feedback. This is 2009 & your trying to sell a bike!! Any customer is the best your going to get. And as your going to collect the dosh before you hand the bike over, I dont think his/her credibility can be questioned.

In my Ebay experience the purchaser is always the one at risk.

I have both bought and sold cars and bikes on ebay, never had a bad bike bought or sold on ebay, but cars a complete ******* both to buy or sell, there seems to be loads of pricks out there that stuff you up.

I have some rules set up on my account so it weeds out the messers out there, but you only learn through time.

Also recently noticed theres alot of people on there that seem to think its their own play thing and if they dont get the price they wanted, they wont sell you the item, or charge incredulous mark ups on postage.

ebay have made alot of changes ove the past year or so, and there not all in everyones favour.

My missus recently got charged £9 by a seller to send something that cost the seller £1.24 to post, so she asked for a refund against the difference, the seller told her no, so she left her neutral fedback, then got a threatening email fomr the seller telling her "she's a ****" and "its people like her that **** it up for everyone else" . when she gets back home next week, i want her to contact ebay to sort this out, as to me this is outrageous behaviour from the seller, and i know it has really upset her.
