It seems Ducati is not going to waste any time in revamping the Hypermotard 1100, after the recent launch of the 2010 Ducati Hypermotard 796 (pictured above)*caused some surprise with the public on its subtle design differences, and similar power characteristics.
Due to be unveiled at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan, Italy, the 2010 Ducati Hypermotard 1100 will get a power boost, as well as a revised chassis, handlebars, and other design bits that will bring the original HM in-line with the 796’s look and power.
With wider handlebars, the Hypermotard 1100 will inherit the structural improvements found in the Hypermotard 796, such as its strengthened and lightened chassis. The HM 1100 is also expected to get an update to its DS motor, but will retain the 1100cc displacement. With this news, it is therefore expected that the 1100 will get an increase in power to further differentiate it from the HM 796.
Ducati is also expected to differentiate the 1100 from the 796 by offering different components (suspension, brakes, etc). Also expect a Hypermotard 796 S with carbon panels and Öhlins suspension in the near future (we’re not sure if this will be an EICMA debut or not).
There’s a lot going on in the Ducati camp right now, as they continue to release their 10 new models by 2010. Asphalt & Rubber will be on hand at the EICMA motorcycle show to cover these unveils as they occur. Stay tuned.
