Fook knows
Check em.

In case you don't know, theirs a history of Prillas with snapped dog bone/con rod and link plates, with seriously bad consequences. I had an advisory on the Fuono mot and jerrrrrrrrheebus it should of been an immediately. Anyhoo this is what was in the shwinger after about 2 hours of swearing sawing bashing.

Rusted, last time I saw out like that it was on a 35 year old LandRover. They don't look like these,

Grindeded the link plates away. The top right is about 1mm deep and never going to get better.

So men, this winter get under the T and get checkin an a greasin :thumbup

Good advice here

It's worth checking over, cleaning and re-packing the linkages every 2 years or so.

When I did mine the link plate failure scare was at it's height....so I swapped mine out (bought a bit of insurance).

However, in retrospect, I think the oe plates are plenty strong enough...failure was most likley caused link siezure in turn caused by lack of maintenance caused by lack of grease at the factory during assembly

Good advice there fellas.
I fitted some AF1 link plates to my bike when I installed the Ohlins.Allegedly they are stronger than the standard items. The needle bearings were dry as a nuns fanny,so I filled 'em up with grease while I was at it.

I did the same. Word of warning though, get a tray or something under the linkage afore yer pull it apart. The needle rollers are tiny and they fall oot if the end covers come off so have something there to catch them.

I had my Tuoldo serviced at Griffs place, mine were done then.
Money well spent.:thumbup

If you're doing the chain and sprockets as well as the service, take £500 with you in loose change.
The job is done properly though and like I said money well spent. it was a different animal afterwards.

Service is gonna cost me 300 plus sprockets. Chains ok. I'll check the link plates tonight when I get in and see if they need doing. Bit worrying though

If you are going to keep the bike a while, do it/get them done regularly, like every 5-6k. That way they should just need greasing up and not need 2 hours getting the feckers out. Bit of a pain doing it to tbh. Not hard just awkward if you haven't got a lift.

I checked them this morning nob and the bikes just had an mot. They look absolutely fine. No wearing at all on them. I'll ask griff his opinion on the 18th when he services it.

Mine were done as part of the service Bay. If the bike has been serviced properly they should be fine.
On the other hand, some servicing is better than others, if you know what I mean.
Griff told me a proper service is about 5 hours, very thorough is Griff. :thumbup

Mines just been for its service - 3.5 k and a bit of play in the linkages - as already mentioned - dry as a nuns preverbial ! Dealer reckoned they should have been checked pre-sale, but guessing its an assembly fault at the factory. Had em re-packed and will get replaced at next service - will have a look of AF for a price on bits - might have a go meself.

Yes it is an easy job,...you just have to take the exhaust collector off to get at the bolt in the frame lug.(That is for Gen2,...not sure about Gen1)
Be careful when bolting it all back together,...make sure you dont push the pins out when you fit the bolts through the link plates.

Cheers lads - will get em ordered up and have a go once I get back from the TT.

Jase you getting your from dave Millings? just ordered mine!

You ordering the link plates or just the bearings? Must admit Ive not got round to it yet - never had a minute sine I got back from the cancelled Senior TT ! :bawling:bawling

ah sorted awe mine oot when ah fitted the Ohlins shocker...like others they were fair lacking grease but as ah always dowse the links an shock wi WD40 as part o ma "Rico OCD" weekly bike maintenance regime everything wiz fine an free and split easy enough.

Its an easy job tae regrease them but as Aldo rightly pointed oot watch they wee needle rollers.!
