Hi All,

Recently bought a Mille after giving up trying to get my TL1000S to go round corners for the last year or so.

For the first few hundred miles I was not sure I'd done the right thing :dunno of course the handling was in a different league, it's miles better looking etc. etc. but where's the power :confused I even started to look through ebay for something a bit quicker.

Then today I found it - the power I mean :devious. I'd got so used to the TL pulling from 2k rpm upwards with the power pretty much over by 9k that I was riding the RSV the same. It seems every time the revs drop below 4k it really struggles to pick up cleanly. But on a ride this morning everything fell into place - it just loves to rev, more like a v-four than a v-twin. The speed it pulls from 6k to 10k+ is amazing - Love it :inlove. Just wish it had the TL bottom end too.

I'd like to compare it to some other Mille's - are there many ride-outs organised around the Yorks/Lancs area?

make sure you sort the gearing matey, 16/44 is ideal for 98-03 milles, that will sort yer low rev pick up, they are overgeared as std.( a pc111 will make it even better)
They are great engines and chasis arent they?, rock steady at 166 and those fast sweepers are ace on the mille. mines on 47k and still going strong.
cheers Ck
PS-where in Yorkshire you at?

Yeah love the chassis - it feels so planted compared to other bikes I've had. 47K? Bloody hell - didn't know they were that reliable - mine only has 10K on it, so should last a while then :)

It already has a 16 tooth sprocket on the front but I don't know what the rear is or what the standard number of teeth is :dunno. Maybe I need to balance the injectors or something :dunno it's super smooth above 6k but as I said pretty rough up to 4-5k. Or is that normal? Think I remember reading an old RSV road test that said they're pretty flat below 4k?

I'm at Skipton by the way- so spend a lot of time riding round the Dales :devious.

Bugger, I've never been to Helmsley and always fancied it - let me know when the next one is :thumbup

always up fer the helmslet-sprokesley-whitby, scarborough etc TT, matey. The rear sprok wil have the tooth number imprinted onit. and yes they are all a bit lumpy low rev til you sort a few things. The motors are nearly bullet proof, if you look afer them, mines been thrashed unmercilessley for all those miles(but well serviced) and no major woes...but when this one dies I'm gonna slot an 03 in.
nice roads round the dales matey!!
cheers Ck
